Analysis On Russian Women's Economic Empowerment Model

In 1990s, international community explicitly raised Women's empowerment as a comprehensive concept. As its sub-concept, Women's economic empowerment plays important role in the process of promoting gender equality and women development. Women's economic empowerment means empowering women equal economic power as men in order to encourage women to engage into economic activity and can play a role in it. Actually, before putting forward the concept of women's economic empowerment, international community has begun to concern gender equality issue in economic fields. Since the beginning of the twenty first century, international community has started to formulate international treaties aiming to protect women equal economic power which was early practice of women's economic empowerment. As further research of theory about women economic empowerment, an international model about women's economic empowerment which has general suitability has been formulated. This model sets women and outside world as empowerment subject and achieves gender equality in economic fields by self-empowerment and outside empowerment.More and more researches show that playing women's full part in economic activities can not only promote self development of women. also promote economic prosperity of the world. Therefore. international community gives more concern on women's economic empowerment issues and many countries positively join in women's economic empowerment action. As many other countries. Russia also attaches importance to domestic women's economic empower work. During the Soviet era. women's economic empowerment practice has been begun and formulated a women's economic empowerment model with Soviet characteristics. After the collapse of the Soviet Union. original model was destroyed and women's economic situation badly deteriorated. Recovering and adjusting women's economic empowerment model has become a task of top priority. At the same time. the 4th World Conference on Women actively advocated women's economic empowerment issue which provided international background for establishing Russian women's economic empowerment. Russian government established women's economic empowerment model led by government and promoted by nation policy with following the Beijing Declaration and Platform for Action and considering their own conditions. This model achieved promotion and improvement of Russian women's economic status in some degree.In conclusion, Russian women's economic empowerment model is the result of modernization of Soviet women's economic empowerment model and localization of international model about women's economic empowerment This model satisfies both historical demand of sustaining the Soviet women's economic empowerment model and urgent demand of Russian women's economic issue after the collapse of the Soviet Union. Women's economic empowerment model matching with Russian situation can improve women's economic situation in the country to some extent, and provide reference for women's economic empowerment practice in other countries.
