As an important part of human capital, health is not only an important goal of human development, but also an important part of national comprehensive national strength and core competitiveness, which has an important impact on social and economic development.Among the numerous influential factors of health, scholars generally believe that income affects health directly, but there is no consensus that individual income deprivation affects health indirectly, when compared with higher income individuals. Therefore,it is necessary to further study. In addition, with the steady development of the medical and sanitary cause in China.Whether individuals can benefit from three major medical systems of the Urban Employee Basic Medical Insurance(UEBMI),the Urban Resident Basic Medical Insurance(URBMI)and the China's New Cooperate Medical Scheme(NCMS)? Related studies focus more on economic evaluation of medical insurance, while the empirical analysis is relatively insufficient. Therefore, this dissertation analyzed the health care and health into a framework at the same time.Aiming at above problems, this paper is based on the panel data of the latest three rounds of China Family Panel Studies(CFPS),employing Ordered Logit model and Logit random effects model to analyze the effects of individual income inequality and health insurance on the health of urban and rural residents in China. We select self-reported and mental health as health indicators and adopt four different relative deprivation indexes conduct our analysis. This research is mainly divided into five parts, including literature review, current situation analysis, theoretical foundation and empirical model, empirical analysis, conclusion and policy recommendations.Firstly,we used references analyzing to sum up the existing literatures in detail in order to identify the data, variables, empirical methods and main results that have been used in empirical analysis.Secondly,we analyzed the current situation of residents' health, income and health care in China based on macro data, and further illustrated the necessity of this study. On the basis of above two parts,we established the econometric model. The above contents are mainly to make full preparations for the subsequent empirical analysis,in the part of empirical analysis,we used the latest panel data of CFPS2010,2012 and 2014 and China Health Statistics Yearbook in 2011 and 2013,and the China Health and family planning statistical yearbook 2015,employed Ordered Logit model and Logit random effects model to analyze the effects of individual income deprivation and health care on the health of urban and rural residents. The controlled variables of personal characteristics, employment status and life habit are also included in the models. Finally,we summarized the empirical analysis results and proposed related policy recommendations to improve the level of urban and rural residents' health.Through empirical analysis, the results of this paper showed that different measures of individual income deprivation can consistently lead to poor self-reported and psychological health and the influence of the medical insurance participance is relatively complexed, not draw a clear conclusion, but the increase of per capita health expenditure can improve the individual's physical and mental health.Besides, other controlled variables also have an effect on self-reported and mental health to some extent.Compared with the existing research, the innovations of this paper are as follows:(1)In the aspect of data selection, this paper selects panel data, compared with the cross-sectional data, the panel data can control individual heterogeneity and solve the missing variables problem, which makes the parameter estimation more reliable.(2)In the empirical analysis method,we use the panel data of Logit model and Ordered Logit model.Selecting the above model,on the one hand,it is due to the need for regression analysis of panel data.On the other hand,it is the need to interpret the nature of variable data, while selecting the two models at the same time can make the estimation results more robust.(3)In terms of research contents, few studies adopted the latest Chinese data do some research about the impact of individual income deprivation on health, let alone the latest micro panel data of China. This dissertation is in part an effort to make up for these deficiencies. What's more, the medical insurance related variables are added into the above models, combined with practical situation and the research results we can put forward effective policy suggestions to improve the level of urban and rural residents health.
