Objective: To investigate the dietary treatment compliance in patients with type 2 diabetes mellitus;to construct dietary treatment compliance model based on the theory of planned behavior, and to verify applicability of the model and to explore the Influencing predictors on dietary treatment compliance. Methods: A cross-sectional design was used in this study.A questionnaire survey was conducted in convenience sampling community and subjects. The patients with type 2 diabetes mellitus in three third-class hospitals in Baoding from June to September in 2016 were selected as the subjects. The questionnaire was designed according to the theory of planned behavior. The questionnaire included social demographic data and planned behavior theory.Descriptive statistical methods were used to explore the personal characteristics, variables in TPB model,as well as dietary treatment compliance behavior of participants.Structural equation model was used to explore the impact of latent variables of TPB on dietary treatment compliance behavior, figuring out the most significant predictor of dietary treatment compliance behavior. Results: 1.Patients with type 2 diabetes mellitus have poor dietary therapy compliance: There were 340 questionnaires and 332 valid questionnaires. The 74.40% of patients with type 2 diabetes mellitus have poor access to diet treatment compliance, the food exchange scale was used to arrange the worst daily diet(77.40%),followed by weighing or estimating food(76.20%)for each meal.2.Construction and Verification of Structural Equation Model: The result of structural equation model shows that behavioral intention is the most important predictor of dietary treatment compliance behavior(standardized coefficient =0.401)on behavior.Behavioral attitude, subjective norms and perceived behavioral control indirectly influence behavior through behavioral intention(standardized coefficient=0.071,0.139 and 0.368,respectively).The Theory of Planned Behavior could account for 33.3% of the variance in dietary treatment compliance behavior. Conclusion: 1.There is a high level of dietary noncompliance in patients with type 2 diabetes mellitus.2.The age, occupation and educational level of social demographic characteristics are related to the dietary treatment compliance in patients with type 2 diabetes mellitus.3.The structural equation model based on the theory of planned behavior has a good ability to explain dietary treatment compliance behavior in patients with type 2 diabetes mellitus.Result of this study indicates that behavioral intention is the key factor that affects dietary treatment compliance behavior, followed by perceived behavioral control, subjective norms and behavioral attitude. In order to improve patients' dietary treatment compliance behavior, interventions to enhance behavioral intention should be the first priority.
