Objective:Using a visual analogue scale, consecutive 7 days urticaria activity score and chronic urticaria quality of life questionnaire, evaluate the correlation between serum IL-31 levels and itching and urticaria severity and the quality of life with chronic spontaneous urticaria patients. Methods:Collected 61 cases of patients with chronic spontaneous urticaria and in the same period of 59 cases healthy check-up clinical data and peripheral blood samples, which patients were diagnosed by the dermatological department of the First Hospital of Shanxi Medical University during July 2016 to December 2016.All patients met the diagnostic criteria of chronic spontaneous urticaria.ELISA method was used to detect the content of serum IL-31 in all samples. The clinical data were obtained by using the duration of pruritus, visual analogue scale, consecutive 7 days of urticaria activity score and chronic urticaria quality of life questionnaire.SPSS22.0 software was used to deal with the data. The correlation between serum IL-31 and pruritus and urticaria severity and quality of life was obtained. Results:The serum levels of IL-31 in the healthy control group was(1.74±0.30pg/ml),and those in the study group was(28.63±15.38pg/ml),so the difference between the two groups was statistically significant(Z=-9.095,P < 0.001).There was significant difference in the serum IL-31 levels between mild and moderate and severe pruritus in CSU patients(P < 0.05).The serum IL-31 levels between pruritus duration less than30 min group and 30min-120 min group and more than 120 min group had no statistical significance(P=0.238).The serum IL-31 levels was positively correlated with urticaria severity(r = 0.665,P < 0.001),as well as quality of life(r = 0.569,P < 0.001).Conclusion:The increased expression of IL-31 in serum of CSU patients, was positively correlated with urticaria severity, pruritus, and quality of life, but not correlated with pruritus duration, which showed that IL-31 may be involved in the CSU,and may be associated with pruritus.IL-31 may be an indicator of the severity of CSU and quality of life, and provide guidance for clinical diagnosis and treatment.
