The Expression And The Significance Of IL-8,IL-6,CRP In The Serum Of COPD Co-morbid Depression Patients

Objective: To explore The expression and the significance of interleukin-8(IL-8),interleukin-6(IL-6),C-reactive protein(CRP)in the serum of COPD co-morbid depression patients.Methods: Samples were collected from 27 AECOPD co-morbid depression patients in the No.1 People’s Hospital of Wu an,seventeen of them were males and ten were females,all of them were depression were diagnosed with AECOPD and depression.We also collected fifty-five patients with AECOPD and never depression,they were diagnosed with AECOPD without depression.all of them signed the informed consent.The basic clinical data of all volunteers were collected,the serum level of IL-8 and IL-6 were detected by ELISA,CRP was tested by lmmunoturbidimetry.Analysis was carried out using SPSS19.0,difference in age,gender,smoking and BODE index assessed by χ2-test,between COPD patients and co-morbid depression patients,but difference in serum IL-8,IL-6 were assessed by t-test,while logistics regression was used in the multiple variable analyses.To evaluating the significance of the serum level IL-6 and BODE index,We also used the receiver operating characteristive(ROC)curse.Results: There was significant difference in BODE index between AECOPD without depression patients and co-morbid depression patients(χ2=-2.53,P<0.05),but there was no difference in age,gender and smoking history(χ2=-0.13 P=0.89,χ2=-0.38 P=0.7andχ2=-1 P=0.31,respectively).The level of IL-8,IL-6and CRP were significantly higher in AECOPD patients with depression than in AECOPD without depression patients(t=2.16,P=0.03,t=3.20,P=0.003,t=2.13,P=0.03,respectively).Both BODE index and The level of IL-6 in serum had significant correlation with co-morbid depression in COPD patients(r=1.23 and r=1.6,respectively,P<0.05).But no significantrelationship was found between co-morbid depression and The level of IL-8,CRP(r=-1.04 and r=-1.06,respectively,P>0.05).Area under the curve(AUC)was used to evaluate the predictive power of IL-6 and BODE index for depression in AECOPD patients.IL-6 AUC was 0.674(95%CI:0.542-0.805,P<0.05),The best cut point in IL-6 was 7.9 pg/ml,IL-6 diagnosis sensitivity and specificity were 0.70 and 0.64.BODE index AUC was 0.668(95% CI:0.545-791,P<0.05),YONDEN index up to 6.5,the sensitivity in the diagnosis of BODE index was 0.70,specificity was 0.64.Conclusion: Circulating IL-6 and BODE index may play an important role in the development of depression in AECOPD patients.
