Objective:The aims of this study were to examine if serum CA19-9,CA242,AFP,CA125,CA15-3 and PSA levels levels are higher in patients with type 2 diabetes compared with those in healthy subjects and to investigate what factors may be associated with these tumor marker levels in patients with type 2 diabetes. Methods:We compared the serum CA19-9,CA242,AFP,CA125,CA15-3 and PSA levels in 512 diabetic patients with those in 334 healthy subjects and investigated the relationships between serum CA19-9,CA242,AFP,CA125,CA15-3,PSA level and various variables. Results:Except for subjects aged 20-29,50-59 and 80-89 years, serum CA19-9 and CA242 levels were higher in diabetic patients than in healthy people.AFP,CA125,CA15-3 and PSA levels in diabetic patients have no significant difference from those in healthy people.Spearman correlation analysis demonstrated that age, systolic blood preassure,HbAlc,FPG and TC were risk factors of those tumor markers. Conclusions:Serum CA19-9 and CA242 levels were higher in diabetics compared with those in healthy subjects, while AFP,CA125,CA15-3 and PSA levels in diabetic patients have no significant difference from those in healthy people.Diabetic patients may need a higher cutoff value of CA19-9 and CA242 to distinguish benigh digestive diseases and malignant digestive tumors.
