| ObjectiveUsing the cross-sectional data about the elderly population’s physical check-up in Shandong province in 2011, we aim to understand the elderly population’s physical examination service utilization. We used the univariate and multivariate analysis to explore the influencing factors of the physical examination utilization,and put forward policy suggestions, targeting to improve the life quality of the elderly, in order to complete the "healthy China 2030" planning.MethodBased on the literature review, we aim to understand the status and the development of physical examination in China and abroad. We used descriptive method, chi-square test and the multivariate logistic regression to understand the influencing factors of the physical examination utilization in the elderly in urban Shandong, China.ResultsOf the respondents, 1348 older people used the physical examination t,accounting for 76.20%. The univariate analysis showed that factors including the gender,education level, occupational situation,chronic illnesses,the distance from the nearest medical institutions, medical insurance, the health behaviors, and watching TV are significantly associated with the utilization of physical examination. The multi-logistic regression showed that six factors were significantly associated with the utilization of physical examination, including education, occupation, exercise,watching TV, suffering from chronic diseases, medical insurance.ConclusionBased on the findings, we should develop policies to expand health physical examination age range, increase the intensity of free medical service propaganda,improve health literacy among the elderly, to improve the utilization rate of the physical examination among the seniors,so as to promote healthy aging in urban China. |
