BackgroundAt present, the focus of research on schizophrenia is more emphasis on etiology and new drug development. In fact, because it is a degenerative disease which has degenerative chages, most of the time, the family numbers are responsible for the main care tasks for clinically cured patients who back home.Undoubtedly, which will be bring different levels of physical and psychological burden for the primary caregivers and causing social burden. To investigate the primary caregivers' burden and influencing factors, and provide a focal point for reducing caregivers' burden, while expecting the community to pay attention to the schizophrenia family and caregivers,so that patients with schizophrenia really return to society.Objective1.To investigate the general demographic characteristics and family function of the primary caregivers of schizophrenic patients to understand the current situation of the burden of care;2.To explore the influencing factors of primary caregivers?s burden;3.To analyze the correlation between influencing factors and the caregiving load of primary caregivers;4.The predictive guidance was made to give their care burden for caregivers.MethodsA total of 300 main caregivers for schizophrenia patients, who were enrolled from the inpatient and outpatients in Zhumadian psychiatric hospital and investigated in the surrounding counties in Zhumadian, during the period from August 2015 to February2016.The general demographic data of the patients and their primary caregivers, the disease information and care factors of the patients and their primary caregivers were surveyed by means of the self-made general questionnaire. The family function rating(ZBI)was used to measure the burden of primary caregivers, and TCSQ was used to assess the coping strategies of individuals' relative stability in various events in life.Use the Social Support Rating Scale(SSRS)to understand the actual support received by the caregiver, and the ability to experience or emotional support and support for the use of support. And then use the corresponding statistical method to analyze the correlation between the influencing factors and the caregivers of the primary caregivers.Results1.There was no significant difference in caregiver's age(P> 0.05).It's significantly correlated with the gender, marital statusburden, educational level, residence, economic status, the caring relationship between them, the course of disease, whether it's for the first time have the disease, whether the patient's condition was stable(P < 0.05).2.Caregiver burden was significantly correlated with family function and social support(P < 0.05).3.The positive coping style was positively correlated with the total burden of caregivers, personal burden and responsibility sharing(P <0.05).Negative coping was negatively correlated with the total burden of caregivers, personal burden and responsibility sharing(P <0.05).4.In ZBI total score of the dependent variable, all other factors score multivariate regression analysis as independent variables, the results show there are three risk factors:disease stability, take care of the time, negative coping style.Three protective factors: the total family functioncaring, the total score of social support and the positive coping stlye.ConclusionsThe family function of the primary caregivers in the patients with schizophrenia haveno obvious abnormality, but their family affective and behavioral control functions were poor, the function of emotional intervention weakened;the primary caregiver's family function was good, the social support level was high, the patients were in stable condition; The burden of caregivers in schizophrenic patients were lower than that of the negative ones.Social support is low, should pay attention to improve their coping style, and give active guidance to promote the effective use of social support to reduce the burden of care, improve the quality of life of patients and their caregivers, reduce their family and social burden.
