Objectives:Analysis of the present situation and the relationship between the uncertainty in illness, nursing need and role adaption in parents with neonates in the Neonatal Intensive Care Unit,to explore the influencing factors of the role adaption of parents with neonates in the Neonatal Intensive Care Unit, and to provide scientific basis for the improvement of role adaption of parents with neonates in the Neonatal Intensive Care Unit. Methods:This study used social demographic characteristics of neonates patients and their parents with babies in NICU questionnaire, parent’s perception of Uncertainty Scale(PPUS),NICU Family Needs Inventory(NFNI)and Role Adaption questionnaire(RAQ)to investigate the parents with neonates in the Neonatal Intensive Care Unit.Through the convenience sampling method,a total of 300 questionnaires were issued, and 273 questionnaires were valid.Using SPSS 17.0 statistical software for data t test, analysis of variance, correlation analysis and multiple linear regression and other statistical analysis.Results:(1)The uncertainty in illness score of parents with neonates in NICU was(3.18±0.38)in this study, the uncertainty in illness of parents in NICU is at a moderate level.Gestational age of neonate patients, delivery mode, only child or not, length of stay in NICU,source of medical costs, disease diagnosis, disease category, severity of illness, parents’ age of neonate patients, the number of neonate patients parents’ home, production of births and other factors on the impact of uncertainty in illness has statistical significance(p<0.05);(2)In the nursing need of neonate patients’ parents, the "need degree" score was(3.05±0.35)in the medium level;the "satisfaction degree" score was(2.01±0.23)in the lower level.Among all influence factors, gestational age of neonate patients, weight at admission, source of medical costs, disease diagnosis, parents’age of neonate patients, the average family’s income a month and other factors on the impact of nursing need has statistical significance(p<0.05);(3)the role adaption score was(3.74±0.51)points in the lower level. The role adaption score was associated with delivery mode, only child or not, length of stay in NICU,source of medical costs, disease diagnosis, disease category, severity of illness, parents’ nation of neonate patients and other factors. And those factors has statistical significance on role adaption of neonate patients’ parents(p<0.05);(4)The correlation analysis of uncertainty in illness, nursing need and role adaption in parents with neonates in NICU showed that the uncertainty in illness and nursing need(satisfaction degree)were negatively correlated(r =-0.375,p<0.01),between uncertainty in illness and role adaption were negatively correlated(r =-0.230,p<0.01),between nursing need(satisfaction degree)and role adaption were positively correlated(r = 0.287,p<0.01);(5)Multiple linear regression analysis showed that the role adaption of neonate patients’ parents were mainly correlated with the uncertainty in illness, nursing need(satisfaction degree),severity of illness, parents’ nation of neonate patients, disease diagnosis(others)and other factors. The uncertainty in illness and nursing need(satisfaction degree)are the most influential to the role adaption. Conclusions:nursing need and uncertainty in illness are important factors influencing the role adaption of neonate patients’ parents, and there is negative correlation between the uncertainty in illness, nursing need and role adaption, however nursing need(satisfaction degree)and role adaption has positive correlation. In the clinical work, when caring neonate patients’ parents with babies in NICU,in addition to improving the homologous need about physical comfort, more attention should be paid to the psychological health, emotional problem and emotional needs from those who are in the strong pressure sources, strengthen correlative information support related to neonate patients’ diseases, social support, emotion support, family support and medical care workers’ support,to promote emotional psychological counseling, reduce uncertainty in illness and nursing need(need degree)level,to enhance nursing need(satisfaction degree),and ultimately improve the role adaption of neonate patients’ parents with babies in NICU.
