Objective:1. To evaluate the efficacy and influencing factors of MPR device in the treatment of hypertrophic scar.2. To compare the therapeutic effect of micro-plasma radiofrequency with different energy parameters in the treatment of hypertrophic scar. Benchmark the energy out-puts of the MPR device.Methods:1.45 Asian patients with 62 hypertrophic scar areas were enrolled in the study. Treatment was applied using the micro-plasma RF.The clinical improvements and side effects were observed by observers blinded to the treatment conditions. Histopathologic examination were performed on biopsies from 6 patients processed to masson staining and hematoxylin-eosin staining before and 12 months after all the treatments.2.25 patients with hypertrophic scar were enrolled. The scar of each individual patient were divided into 3 parts, and treated with different energy parameters setting(70W/80W/90W). A total of four treatments were performed at two month interval. The improvement were assessed using the Vancouver Scar Scale (VSS) at 2 months after 2 treatments(T1) and 6 months after 4 treatments(T2).Result:1. Significant reduction in the thickness, texture and color of the scar were achieved, no side effect was observed. The overall clinical improvement is 93.55%,33 of 62 scars were markedly effective,9 were improved and only 4 were uneffctive. Statistics showed that age was not related to efficacy, while disease location, area were correlated with effectiveness.2. Histological studies have shown that, after treatment, the number of fibroblasts were reduced and collagen fibers arranged more orderly and loosy. The thickness and color of zone B and C were significantly improved after 4 times of treatments, which is better than zone A. The difference of VSS score among 3 areas was statistically significant. There were no difference in therapeutic effect between zone B and zone C.Conclusion:1. Micro-plasma radiofrequency is clinically effective on hypertrophic scar and is associated with minimal side effects.2. Micro-plasma radiofrequency can promote the collagen of scar regeneration and rearranged. The location and area of scar are correlated with the effect.3. Micro-plasma radiofrequency has a significant dose-effect relationship with hypertrophic scar, and the effect is improved with the increase of energy and times of treatments.
