| Objective: Lung cancer is one of the serious diseases to threaten human life health. Its incidence and mortality are increasing year by year. How to effectively control and treat lung cancer has become the focus around the world. Lung cancer belongs to the categories of “cough”, “lung amassment”, “hypochondriac lump” and other syndromes in traditional Chinese medicine(TCM). Its onset is obscure, easily metastasizes, easy recurs and the prognosis is poor, so that most of lung cancer patients are in middle and advanced stage once the disease is diagnosed, the chance of operation is lost. The radiotherapy and chemotherapy are the main therapeutic methods. However their toxic and side effects are serious and the patients cannot tolerate. For the middle and advanced lung cancer patients, the treatment aim is to alleviate the symptoms, improve the quality of life and prolong the survival time. There has been a long history for TCM in the treatment of cancer. The diagnosis and treatment of lung cancer have been found in many TCM classics. In recent years, TCM has made great progress in the treatment of cancer. Its advantage has gained the recognition around the world. It has better curative effect in the treatment of middle and advanced tumor, especially in stabilizing lesions, alleviate symptoms, improving the quality of life, prolonging survival time and reducing the side reaction of chemotherapy. Therefore, to inherit the academic thought of TCM classics in the treatment of lung cancer, to summarize the treatment experience in TCM classics and more effective experience prescriptions according to the clinical efficacy are of great significance in the treatment of middle and advanced lung cancer.Professor Huanfang Fan is a chief physician professor in oncology department of Hebei Province Hospital of traditional Chinese medicine. She learned from several local famous doctors, Professor Zhiqiang Chen, Professor Yuyong Zhao, Professor Yaxian Liu and Professor Baoen Shan successively. She has achieved valuable learning experience. Professor Huanfang Fan carefully studies the classics, specializes in “The Medical Classic of the Yellow Emperor”, “Synopsis of Golden Chamber”, “Records of Tradition Chinese and Western Medicine in Combination”, “A Treatise on Blood Troubles” and other TCM ancient books. Combined with the clinical work for over 20 years, she has accumulated rich clinical experience and has her own unique method for tumor treatment. In this paper, the clinical experience of Professor Fan in the treatment of lung cancer was arranged and summarized. 30 cases of lung cancer patients with phlegm-poison coalescence, deficiency of both Qi and Yin in middle and advanced stage were treated with Jinxiaosanjie recipe, the toxic and side effects and clinical efficacy were observed, so as to provide new ideas for the TCM treatment of lung cancer.Methods:This paper was divided into three parts:1 Study “The Medical Classic of the Yellow Emperor” and “Synopsis of Golden Chamber”. Further clarify the guiding significance of the classics on the etiology, pathogenesis, diagnosis, treatment and prognosis of lung cancer under the guidance of Professor Fan.2 Experience summary. Summarize professor Fan’s experience on etiology, pathogenesis, TCM syndrome differentiation characteristics, transmission, bone metastasis, pleural effusion, prevention and treatment of lung cancer.3 Observe the clinical curative effect of home-made Jinxiaosanjie recipe by professor Fan. 30 cases of patients with middle and advanced lung cancer in accordance with the inclusion criteria were taken as the research objects from February 2015 to December 2015. Their average age was 64.83±9.281 years old; they adopted Jinxiaosanjie recipe and made into 300 ml decoction, oral administration, qd, 6 times a week, 2 months was taken as a course. The blood routine, biochemical items, urine routine and electrocardiogram were detected 6 months before and after treatment respectively. The TCM syndromes and life quality were evaluated. The clinical efficacy, toxic and side effects were observed.Results:1 As for the etiology and pathogenesis of lung cancer, Professor Huanfang Fan considered that lung cancer was closely related to “phlegm”, “poison”, “stasis” and “deficiency”. The phlegm-poison coalescence, and deficiency of both Qi and Yin are one of important pathogeneses of lung cancer.2 As for the security detection of Jinxiaosanjie recipe, there was no significant difference in blood routine, liver function, renal function, urine routine or electrocardiogram before and after treatment.3 As for the clinical efficacy detection:(1)TCM syndromes: 16 cases were excellent, 11 cases were effective and 3 cases were invalid. The effective rate was 90%. The shortness of breath, fatigue and dry mouth showed significant difference before and after treatment(P<0.05). Compared with before the treatment, the above symptoms were improved; the cough, hemoptysis and chest pain symptoms were improved, but showed no statistical significance(P>0.05); the fever symptoms showed no significant difference before and after the treatment(P>0.05).(2)Quality of life: After the treatment, the life quality was improved and stabilized in 26 cases, and decreased in 4 cases. The effective rate was 86.67%. The karnofsky scores showed significant difference before and after the treatment(P<0.05). The karnofsky score after the treatment was improved.Conclusion:1 Traditional Chinese medicine should be inherited and developed. The doctors should scientifically learn from ancient sages and contemporary famous doctors, combined with their own clinical work, explore and arrange the previous experience to treat diseases, which can achieve good therapeutic effect.2 Professor Huanfang Fan has unique viewpoint on the diagnosis and treatment of lung cancer. She thinks that phlegm-poison coalescence, and deficiency of both Qi and Yin are main type of syndrome of lung cancer. The common use of removing phlegm and resolving toxin, tonifying Qi and nourishing Yin can achieve good curative effect for middle and advanced lung cancer. The home-made Jinxiaosanjie recipe can effectively treat lung cancer with phlegm-poison coalescence and deficiency of both Qi and Yin.3 Jinxiaosanjie recipe has no hematotoxicity, liver, kidney or myocardial function damage. It can alleviate clinical symptoms and improve the quality of life, to keep the patient in stable conditon for a long time. |
