Water resource shortage is becoming the world wide problem;many countries around the world are facing with this crisis.Same as some part of the world,China also face with the same situation,water scarcity.Hebei province,Funing district has both groundwater and surface water supply sources,but because of increase of economic development,infrastructure,industrialization and urbanization,quality and quantity of water resource have been decreased.To achieve water resource sustainability,flexible and reliable solution to manage the water resource system are needed such as “Optimization of conjunctive use of surface water and groundwater”.To simulate the groundwater exploitation effects,Visual MODFLOW is a common and reliable tool to perform the simulation.In this study,MODFLOW-96 simulation engine with PEG2 solver option were selected,simulate for 2010-2020 period.DRASTIC was also applied to determine the vulnerability zone of groundwater contamination.Water resource quality is another factor to consider,to qualify the water usage category,so there must to evaluate both groundwater and surface water quality.Using comprehensive parameters method to evaluate the groundwater quality,used two monitoring well which are well 2nd and well 8th and the results is not cross over the category III of water quality standard.For surface water,used water quality index(WQI)to perform evaluation which included dissolved oxygen,fecal coliform,biochemical oxygen demand,total phosphate,ammonia nitrates,turbidity and total dissolve solid as evaluation parameters,the results shown that Tanghe river,Daihe river and Yanghe river's water body quality is in medium range and Shihe river's water body quality is in good range.The results have shown that,groundwater exploitation on study site with the same extracting rate in 2010 might cause the over-extraction of groundwater resource.To prevent that happening,the related department have to manage the water resource usage,and exploitation restrict.The study also suggests that;the groundwater extraction should not be larger than 24% of total water demand forecast of 2020.Surface water source can be used instead,especially for irrigation,because the surface water quality is qualified for watering directly for agriculture and landscape works.
