The snow on highway in winter and its effects on daily travelling are more and more challenging. Ice on the pavement will reduce the friction coefficient to compromise the transportation safety, which is a difficult issue for administrators and a hot topic for researchers.Raw materials, including calcium chloride, potassium, calcium acetate, magnesium chloride, were selected by testing 15 samples under-8?. Then orthogonal design was introduced to do the experimental design under four factors and three levels. Nine trials were evaluated under-8?to select the best component composition by measuring the amount of melted ice after 1 hour. Optimal proportion was determined by intuitive single index analysis for the calcium chloride, potassium, calcium acetate, magnesium chloride to be1:3:2:3, namelyA1 B3 C2 D3.The experimental results showed that the pH and particle size of the snowmelt deicing agent range met the requirements by evaluation of the physical and chemical properties of deicing agent. Meanwhile, the effects of compound snowmelt ingagent on metal corrosion and plants were reduced while having the advantages of delaying freezing, softening ice and being compatible with asphalt. In addition, ice melting amount increases as the time increases and is around 1.5 times more effective than the sodium chloride type ice melting agent. It is only less effective than the potassium acetate. The experimental results also indicated that it has better high-temperature stability, water stability, and skidding resistance. The research goal to find a compound snow-melting agent and snow-melting asphalt was realized. This new snowmelting agent has good performance, which can be used in the field.
