Company L is facing the fierce competition in consumer notebook market. CompanyL needs to constantly improve its product competitiveness to adapt to this change,especially to find a new management approach to improve product development efficiency,reduce cost, and provide reliable new product to meet the need from different customers.This thesis identified Company L’s major problems and analyzed their dominantcontributions in product development process, ODM management model, by the means ofanalyzing Company L’s ODM development management system and management model,also with the application of Lean Six Sigma management theory. The purpose is toestablish a high efficiency, high quality, self-sustainable management model. Theimprovement measures are provided:Firstly, Company L needs to clarify the duties between ODM and R&D teams, buildeffective communication system, improve communication efficiency, and reinforceODM’s control over product development level. Secondly Company L needs to find outthe critical path of process, optimize process, enhance design reviews on criticalmilestones across development process, and eliminate developing risk and problems ofinnovation products utilizing DMAIC method. Thirdly Company L needs to improvecompany’s process optimization in order to reduce duplication work between the differentprojects, enable document standardization and drive company’s culture development.Finally Company L should utilize information system to manage product developmentprocess, reduce human resource over use, realize information sharing, and enhancecommunication efficiency between different teams.Through this study we have achieved ODM management improvement, design issuesof new products reduction, issues incidence of repeat reduction, product developmentefficiency improvement, product development cycle reduction, and human resource overuse reduction.With the implement of optimization measures, Company L can increase productcompetitiveness. The analysis approach and methods can be referred by similar companiesworking on Lean product development.
