With the development of the technology, optical fiber sensing technology is now widely used in many fields, like military, aviation, energy environmental protection relaying on its high sensitivity, high anti-electromagnetic interference ability and good adaptability. As visible spectrum is an important component in optical research, the beam characteristics of optical fiber output is an important factor of optical fiber sensing technology. Traditional ways of detecting optical fiber output contains using photodetector, spectrograph, and optical power meter, etc,however, these methods may have low accuracy, or cannot provide a straightforward view of the beam characteristics of optical fiber output. Therefore, it is significant to invent a detecting system which can analyze the beam characteristics of optical fiber output with high response speed, high stability and straightforward result view.In this thesis, a detecting system which can do real-time detection of the beam characteristics of optical fiber output based on CCD image sensor is designed. Via FPGA driving area array CCD, the design can carry out real-time acquisition of the output beams’ characteristics and then send the data to the host computer to be processed using TCP/IP interface, and make visualization processing, get the beams’ characteristics parameter and build a 3D model of the light field distribution in the host computer. The main content of this thesis contains:First, according to the current development situation of the beam detecting system, and the beam characteristics of optical fiber output, a solution which can make real-time acquisition of the beam characteristics based on area array CCD is put forward.Second, the development platform of the system and the working principle of each module is detailedly explained,as well as the plan of system hardware circuit is demonstrated and designed.Third, the Verilog HDL program design of FPGA from the aspects of timing design, signal flow, data process and the coordination between modules is finished. Besides, the simulation verification of every function unit under Modelsim is achieved.Finally, the design of the hardware circuit is finished and large amount of experiment research is completed. Moreover, the CCD imaging quality and real-time data acquisition and transmission verified and optimized, the data get from fiber output to the host computer is sent, then the image is generated, the beams’ characteristics parameter and build a 3D model of the light field distribution is got, in order to do deeper test and verification of the function and feature of the hardware system.The design which can be used to test the beam feature based on area array CCD can fulfill the function of real-time test, process and transmission of beam characteristics with low cost, cooperating with the host computer that can do real-time acquisition and quality analysis of beams’ characteristics parameter and 3D distribution of beam field. The final result of this thesis is beneficial to the topic of low-cost beam feature analysis and real-time measuring of the optical interference field distribution.
