Mass media become more and more significant in the fields of sports.The increasing vivid influence of sports media has turned into one of the main channel for people to obtain information.As a sports superpower,athletes have been the object of media in our country.Athletes`image has changed from “role model” to “idol” since the reform and opening-up policies.The gender imbalance in sports media brings about the deviation between female athletes` image and image of itself,which is because the women ”stereotypes” from the society has existed for a long time.As the most important part of the government, People`s Daily plays a significant role in its coverage of sports,especially for shaping female athletes` image.On the one hand,People`s Daily`s reports reflects the party and the government focus on sports and pay attention to the Chinese female athletes;On the other hand, in a new discourse practice,People`s Daily become the guide for other mass media in the complex relationship between sports,policies,and countries,and provide self-display stage for female athletes with strong official perspective and established focus areas.The 2008 Olympic Games in Beijing has landmark significance both on our country`s physical culture and sports.After 2008,on account of the development of new media technologies,sports events make themselves available live online,leading it to become the most popular type of Sports communication,which caused some impact on the transmission of traditional sports media.In this context,according to Chinese female athletes` reports from 2008 to 2015,the study use the content analysis and discourse analysis to research many elements including number,position,content and so on spread through the longitudinal comparative study examined the characteristics and the ways of Chinese female athletes` image reproduction.The purpose is to construct strategies for the People`s Daily strengthening the reports about Chinese female athletes media image reappearanceand transmission frame.To optimize the reports and offer feasible suggestions,provide a more feasible reference value to another media for the Chinese female athletes` reports.
