The Analysis Of Differences Between Chinese And American Television Talkshow Host

This paper emphasizes on the differences between the American and Chinese talk show, at the same time, providing several typical American talk shows as the contrast analysis samples to show the differences between the hosts. Combing the issue, from the perspective of historical setting and evolutionary course of American and Chinese talk show respectively. Except for the above, it also deals with the comparison of Chinese and American talk show host. What is more, for the pragmatic use, this paper emphatically analyzes pragmatic differences in topic selection,the Chinese and western host language symbols, nonverbal symbols and the contrast of humor principles. In the contrast of characteristic of Chinese and American anchorman, for instance, the different education level,working experiences, different major(or profession) during study etc, as well as the interaction differences between talk show hosts and guest or the audience, from the comparison we could find a series of problems which talk show and the host should enhance and promote. Also, people overly put emphasis on the high degree level of the host.(anchorman) As for the professional skill, the knowledge that the Chinese host learned which is too limited, their age is relatively young in this field, lack of social experience, the writer of this paper thinks that even though China and America exist in different social backgrounds,having many differences in culture and media,but the practical and outstanding theory and the host’s outstanding characteristics are worth learning and should be used for reference, such as the hosts are rich in experience, humorous as they are easy to approach, paying much attention to the experience rather than the age of the host. The author believes that Chinese TV talk show has more room for developing,China’s long period of advancing should be adopted as the strategy of talk show, from a different perspective, pursuing the development of a popular, and not lack of personality, trying to create a society suitable for people from every profession and domain, insisting on serving the public.
