Aerobics has become more and more popular in China in recent years. Its breakthrough has always been based on the development of related theories. To some extent, the quality of papers on aerobics is related to the advance of aerobics and to the improvement of its level directly.Almost all the aerobics researchers, including those from academyand research institutes, trend to equal their academic achievements to those papers published on recognized kernel journals. Thus, papers on aerobics published on recognized kernel journals will be more representative, more authoritative and more front. They are worthy to be used for references. However, in the process of aerobics researching, the authors have to face mounts of outdated document literatures that set barriers on the way and drag the researching process. It is a question that how to find useful messages in numerous document literatures and grasp updated information, and then, promote research efficiency.Method of document metrological analysis is a perfect tool in satisfying the need in research process. It is a method of quantitative analysis that mixes the method of math and statistics in analyzing related measuring index systematically. As a result, it will uncover the status of certain subject, its research focus and existing problems. This method will assist scientific researchers to master status of the subject and its basic trends, give guidance in practices and theories. It can also help researchers make conclusions in a scientific way and enrich the achievements of computation. The author analyzed the quantity, research methods, authors and quotations of papers on aerobics that were published in core journals of sports from 2008-2015 through the methods of literature, literature measurement, expert interview, mathematical statistics, and logical analysis. As a result, the author generally understands the trends, hotspots and frontiers of Chinese aerobics research. The author also fund some existing problems in aerobics theory research and give some reasonable advises in order to promote research quality, to support and motivate the development of Chinese aerobics career. The author has made a conclusion. From 2008-2015, there have been 187 research papers on aerobics had been published on 17 Chinese core journals of sports. The quantity of published papers turns out to be a curve, from low to high and then get a downturn. More than 80% papers were published in 9 months that means almost all research messages were updated. Those papers have wide sources that are from 25 provinces. Paper production basically conforms to the regional economic development level and the level of aerobics development from high to low. These researches contains from mass aerobics, match aerobics to school aerobics. However, most of these papers are repeated in contents, monotone in topic choice and lack of timeliness or innovation. Most of the authors are aged from 31 to 50 who were certificated in lecture or associate professor. Those female authors who get a bachelor degree are mostly from College of Physical Education or Normal Colleges. Most papers are completed by one author. Coauthored papers were mostly fund projects, the research fields were rich, high cross, usually with high research value. However different authors shared great disparity. All these 187 papers involved in 1251 citations. Average citation was increased progressively which indicates that the authors’ awareness and ability to use document literature has been enhanced. Documents literature cited by these papers is mostly form Chinese or English journals that are closely ties to physical education, and pedagogy, physiology. The research method is unitary and most papers are qualitative researches, lack the ability to use quantitative methods and experimental methods. There are 50 fund projects in this period; most of them are provincial projects.
