By the method of study,bibliometrics, logical analysis, statistics, the research makes a bibliometrics statistical analysis on condition of 297 sport tourism papers which published on 15 academic periodicals from 1999 to 2009. The current thesis aims to provide a comprehensive investigation on the current situation, the hotspots, and the development of sports tourism, and help those who engage in teaching and scientific research of the sports tourism as well as relative fields with acquainting with the status and the development trend.The analysis to the outcome: (1)The total quantity of the sport tourism literatures is 297 during the period from 1999 to 2009. The author proposes that dominance in the research of sport tourism area development should be maintained. (2)The distribution areas of the authors are extensive, spreading all over the 28 province, autonomous regions, and municipalities. But it can be seen that the imbalance exists in different areas, which is caused by their different degree of developmental level in economics and science and the Opening and Reforming. The 297 thesis has 497 authors, and the cooperative thesis accounts for 47.5%; on average, there are 1.67 authors per thesis. The sports tourism research is mainly carried out by colleges and universities and physical institutes. (3)In the 297 theses being analyzed, there are 1892 quoted passage in total; on average, each has 7.33quotations. (4)There are 115 theses accounting for 38.7 % assisted by financial funds. The funds covering national, provincial and ministerial and college and university level with a annually increasing indicates that in our country, an increasing importance to the research on female sports has been attached.
