With the release of the “National New-type Urbanization Plan(2014-2020)” by the State Council, it appears to build smart cities has become the trend in city development. And to build smart communities which cover suitable spaces and play important roles in urban life and social management turns to be an emerging hot field in pilot construction of smart cities.Smart community development is based on the concept of smart cities and building smart communities functions as the base of the bigger projects. Currently the construction of smart communities, covering a wide range of independent areas and being applied inefficiently, has not been expanded overall systematically. Neither efficient management model nor successful business pattern has formed yet. The main problems in developing smart communities include:1. Lack of an efficient top-level design. The concept of “smart community” evolves from the idea of “smart city” not long ago. Different industries and companies have their own understanding about what a smart community is. To date there’s no established industry standard or basic service system structure widely acknowledged.2.Low degree of integrated service system. The service system of smart communities contains lots of professional applications supervised by different authorities and poorly integrated. In contrast, a sophisticated smart community service system integrates resources widely and deeply and provides an intensive platform of low cost in construction and management.3.Lack of proper operating model. As the concept of smart communities hasn’t been proposed long ago, there’s no consistent service system, strong guarantee capability or complete social participation mechanism well established. An efficient operating model is yet to be discussed and explored by every party involved in the industry. Based on the needs, design and practice of building smart communities in Zhangjiagang, this article fully explores the top-level design of smart communities, integration of community services and operation of these communities. This article focuses on the analysis of the construction of a smart community platform and the general framework of the Zhangjiagang Smart Community Project. It designs the overall structure of the Zhangjiagang Smart Community Project and elaborates the realization of unifying user authentication and access and authorization of applications. It contributes to the further studies on the sustainability of smart communities.Enlightened by the construction of Zhangjiagang Smart Community Project, this article studies the Oauth agreement and provides solutions to unifying user authentication and authorization and integrating different types of services on the open platform of smart communities. Moreover, this article improves the realization of authentication and authorization of mobile applications on the basis of Oauth model and guarantees safe and highly-efficient accesses to the smart community platform. This article gives detailed design and illustration of the key parts of the scheme.
