Since the European debt crisis, China play an important role on the international stage with its economy keeping on developing dramatically, even though the world economic instability. However, many investigations show that Chinese national image does not catch up with the economic development. Under this background, Chinese economic situation swayed by French press was studied by reports relating to Chinese economy in this paper.The news on “Chinese economy” of Le Monde, a French newspaper during2013-2014, were collected and analyzed by content analysis method, case analysis method and framing analysis method.It is revealed that the attitudes towards Chinese economical profile were neutral but slightly negative from corresponding reports mentioned above. Such as strong economy with a great deal of problems, uncertainty brought by the anti-corruption of the economy, backward state-owned enterprises vs dynamic private enterprises,overseas investment with ambition and unfair attack to the foreign enterprises.Besides, framework of “responsibility” runs through all contents.At last, the reason of the formation of this image was analyzed from international environment, the effect from the journalists, the conception of the news and cultural element. The Chinese economic image was constructed upon many factors and we could look at the issue from historical perspective as a piece of economical exchange reference between China and France.
