The human way of obtaining information progress since entering the information age, and the higher requirements are put forward about the integrity, accuracy and reliability of information. The Video monitoring system is getting people s great concern because of its content-rich, intuitive and strong and able to complete reproduction of objective information.Paper first describes the development history of video monitoring system is introduced in detail, then gives several solutions that can be used for indoor monitoring system on the basis of the comprehensive analysis of the functional requirements of the whole systemLand summarizes and contrasts the advantages and disadvantages of these solutions. Design a cheap and practical, small volume and low power consumption of video monitoring system according to the actual demand of indoor monitoring system. To achieve an indoor monitoring system, the ARM9 kernel s microprocessor S3C2440 is used as the core of the hardware control system, the embedded LINUX operating system as the core control of the video monitor software system, and the popular and cheap USB camera as the front end of the acquisition device. The emphasis ofthis thesis focuses on building cross-compiler environment,using the serial port to complete the target board debugging,using SecureCRT software to complete communication host and target machines, compiling the U-boot of the development board, cutting and transplanting the Linux kernel, making the Linux root file system, writing and testing USB camera driver. The video driver using V4L2 architecture and the MJPEG and YUV two kinds of data acquisition, analysis the MJPEG-Streamer video streaming server.The video data can be read if enter the corresponding IP address of the development board in the PC-side web browser,.Compared with the traditional video acquisition system, this system has the following advantages: simple hardware circuit, small volume, fast video acquisition, stable and reliable system operation, low cost, convenient installation and so on. Users can easily open the monitor system in the client software or the browser window. Thus it is widely applied to many fields of smart home, remote monitoring and industrial control, have a certain application value.
