With the fast and continuous developing of the society and time, the group of women has become a group that catches more and more attention. And the birth of feminism proves its rationality and necessity. It seems that the female has got the same right and respect with the male when the society is endowing more open and so-called privilege to women. In fact, the concern and respect that the female has got is at the cost of losing more feminine characteristics. That is to say, the female still earns social status by approaching the male and losing themselves.From the state founding to the proposing of liberating women in the May 4th Movement, the female is gradually stepping into a new historical stage. And the deeper that the western thought goes into China, the more concern that the term “Feminism” gets, especially in the vast women group. With the continuous expanding of the TV media, there are more and more people who are occupied in the relevant media. Broadcasting host has formed a group and appeared in people’s eyes. Though the group is a minor one, it still becomes the focus because its special working nature and high media exposure, in which the female possesses a high proportion. In the daily life people usually focus on the beautiful appearance and unique temperament of the hostess. And the professional visitors pay more attention to their ability of broadcasting and logical thinking. All these words undoubtedly imply that all these women are the best of women and even stronger than the male. It seems that these words are used to praise the female. Actually it is clear to see that the women that are praised are on their way to the male.The female broadcasting hosts enjoy a high media exposure but they are usually studied with other labels. Their female characteristics are frequently ignored. In fact, they are a special group of the female. It is because the high media exposure that they are endowed with higher pressure and requirement so that they lose more than the other women who are occupied in other work, which is usually ignored because the particularity of their work. The western feminism pays attention to various female group and there are many different researches on the broadcasting hostess. This thesis combines these two points to explore that this group needs not only more requirements but also more concern. At present the research on the broadcasting host and hostess mainly focuses on the broadcasting program, wording choice and modality of the host, costume of the host and program type. But the research seldom pays attention to the gender of the broadcasting host. Therefore, this thesis studies the contemporary Chinese female host who enjoys the highest media exposure and widely neglect at the same time in the women group based on the feminism, hoping to provide more concern to the female group of broadcasting hostess.The western researches on the feminism enjoy a long history and completed system that is mainly composed of Liberal Feminism, Marxist Feminism, Existential Feminism, Radical Feminism, Lesbian Feminism and Postmodern Feminism. The domestic researches mostly derive from learning and developing of the foreign literature and academy. But there are Chinese scholars who study the feminism creatively and the broadcasting and hosting is paid more attention at present in China as a special localization product. The combining research mainly focuses on the discourse right of women and the female gender role in the media.This thesis elucidates the reappearing development of the feminism in the broadcasting and hosting art and its influence on the female from different angles. It analyzes the broadcasting hostess’ s current situation from the perspective of culture, vision, the developing process, consumption and discourse right. In Chapter One, the author of this thesis makes a systematic analysis and summarizing of the difference between the western feminism and Chinese feminism. This chapter also elucidates the development of the broadcasting and hosting art in China. Chapter Two analyzes the stage effect of costume and wording choice based on visual appearance to provide further analysis and understanding from different viewing angles. Chapter Three presents the influence on the self image and relevant program when the female host’s identity changing from the girl to the housewife and mother, from which the different social identities of women can be seen. Chapter Four is themed by the consumption. It founds the consumption tendency through the demonstration of the female body that is used as a consumer product. Chapter Five concludes that the female earns discourse right at the cost of losing themselves. It seems that they get what they want but in fact they lose more. Thus, this thesis endeavors to analyze the role that the female plays in broadcasting and hosting through the perspectives above, hoping that more people can pay more attention to the group of female broadcasting hostess.
