Recently years, optic-fiber communication plays an important pole among so many communication means. Due to these advantages, such as high communicate speed, low power dissipation and so on. As a result,optic-fiber communication has been widely used in the communication between digital equipments and chips. This paper introduces an optical communication system applied in deta audio and viedio equipment. The optical fiber has a low loss, which can reduce the ber of this system. The system mainly include an optical transmmitter chip, an optical receiver.A high communicate speed, low power dissipation and high sensitivity optic-fiber communication system is designed in this paper, based on the research for the optic-fiber communication. This system mainly applies in the communication between digital equipments. The system contains an Optical Transmitter chip XD3260, an Optical Receiver chip XD3280 and plastic optical fiber. The chip XD3260 is housed with a LED whose type is ES-CADCD08 and a driver IC. It transformed the electrical pulse signal into optical pulse signal and be transmitted to the receiver chip XD3280 through the plastic optical fiber. In order to improve the stability of the transmitter, time delay compensation and temperature compensation technology are used in the driver IC. It means that the transmitter chip XD3260 has a wide opertating voltage and opertating temperature range. A trans-impedance amplifier(TIA) in the Optical Receiver chip XD3280 improves its sensibility and bandwidth. The Automatic Gian Control(AGC) technology is used for the Receiver to increase its dynamic input range. A PIN Photo-electric Diode make sure the receiver a high efficiency and a quick response speed. The system uses a low dissipation optical fiber to reduce the energy dissipation. The design and simulation of this optic-fiber communication system is based on the basic principle of the optic-fiber communication and UMC 0.6um CMOS process. This paper mainly discusses how to improve the communication speed and restrain the noise signal of the system. At last, the functional simulation is done with the Cadence tool. The final results show that the system has met the design requirement to achieve the high sensitivity, high communication speed and strong anti-interference ability.
