The Young Companion Books Company is well-known for its special publications, pictorials, catalogs, journals and fine art books. The Young Companion pictorial, which is recognized as the pioneer of the large-sized photomechanically-printed pictorials in China, has enjoyed popularity both at home and abroad, and is always a sparkling hallmark; and the literary and artistic books published by the company, featured with China’s New Literature, is a monument for the modern Chinese literary career and the publishing industry. As a small and medium-sized private publishing organization with characteristic and influence, it held a unique position in the publication market during the Republican period and it is worth studying its publishment. |
