Micro-blog rumors, which is a new social phenomenon, are thecombination of rumors and micro-blog. It has the essence of rumors and thecharacteristic of micro-blog. As a rumor, it’s a proposition for belief oftopical reference disseminated without official verification; a specificproposition for belief, spread without secure standard of evidence beingpresent; it refers to an unverified account or explanation of events,circulating from person to person and per-training to an object, event, orissue of public concern. As a Micro-blog rumor, it becomes more, fastershorter, more widely, the motivations are not always malicious and so on.It does not only has relationship with of micro-blog but also with socialenvironment and psychological mechanism.With the development of micro-blog technology, various publicopinion events caused by micro-blog rumors are like flooding water,causing Micro-blog rumors become the prominent social phenomenon. Dueto the negative effects on individuals, organizations and society brought bymicro-blog rumors, many a people regard them as disasters which need tobe killed. The author thinks that it is not an objective and fair view.Everything has its reason to exist. Only the micro-blog rumors’characteristics and the nature are mastered, the adverse influences areeliminated and the advantageous influences are increased, bringingmicro-blog rumors to the healthy track.This paper holds an objective view towards micro-blog rumors,avoiding the standpoints such as "micro-blog rumors are disaster ", "micro-blog technological is decisional" and "rumormongers aredeterminism". With Micro-blog rumors be compared with the traditionalrumors, the differences and similarities between them are meticulouslyanalyzed. This paper includes many scientific research methods, like dataanalysis, content analysis, cases analysis so that a scientific and persuasiveconclusion is proposed.
