Research And Application Of Home Gateway Based On OSGi

In recent years, with the development of family informatization, a variety ofdifferent manufacturers have produced intelligent home appliances and otherhousehold intelligent equipment, which use different platforms and differentcommunication protocol. This has caused the management of family intelligent deviceis difficulties and the reusability of software is low.This paper presents software and hardware model of the home gateway whichcan adapt multiple supplier, multiple platforms, multiple protocols and achieveinternal and external communication through the engineering idea and the analysis tothe home network system. Firstly, This paper introduces a service-orientedarchitecture called OSGi. OSGi is the core technology in the system, which can suportdifferent platforms and suppliers.Analysing of home network services, the homenetwork is divided into four subsystems.It presents function of each subsystem andthe relationship between them. Then, this paper introduces the communication systemwhich is the basis of the home network system. The communication system includethe external access network, internal network protocols and UPnP middleware.Itpresents an architecture based on UPnP which can support heterogeneous networks.This paper also present a hardware and software architecture of home gateway andprovides the solution of each software layer. Finally, it introduce the experiment abouthow to integrate prototype of home equipment management system using the Felixframework incorporates,how to deploy and how to operation, which is to validate thefeasibility of home equipment management system and other related characteristics.In this paper, the model of home gateway based on OSGi can provide a unifiedsoftware platform for different equipment manufacturers, software vendors.It improvethe reusability of software and can support the equipment of multiple protocols,makeit easy to add different device into the system and realize the unified management fordifferent equipment. In addition, the home gateway modle provide interface tocommunicate with external network, in order to integrate conveniently with externalsystem.
