As the application of high speed industrial cameras grows more and more widely,resolution and FPS of camera has increased significantly. And consequently growingof the amount of data makes it more and more urgent to enhance the image datatransmission rate between high speed camera and image capture card, and improvethe capability of real-time mass storage. Therefore, the research of high speed imagedata transmission and storage system based on Camera Link interface is veryimportant. The Camera Link interface has a high transmission rate, long transmissiondistance and low cost. Advantages above make it be the staple interface standard ofhigh speed camera. Camera Link interface’s appearance matched the speed of cameraimage data output and capture card input. So design of a high speed image datatransmission and storage system becomes the main topic of this thesis.Firstly, this thesis explained the transfer protocol of Camera Link interface,principle of transmit data at high speed, and the LVDS signal as a basis of CameraLink interface standard in detail. Contract with other camera interfaces, the technicaladvantage and practicality of Camera Link interface was illustrated. Besides, theproblem of bit error rate in the long-term transmission of camera-link interface isinvestigated and its test method is proposed.Secondly, making FPGA as the main control chip, a hardware logic program ofhigh speed image data transmission and storage system based on Camera Linkinterface is designed. And this system concludes camera control module, data receivemodule, buffer control module and hard disk control module. The correctness of thislogic system was proved through experiments and simulations.Finally, the hardware circuit design was accomplished according to the hardwarelogic above. It concludes Camera Link interface circuit, buffer circuit, serial portcommunication circuit and FPGA deployment circuit et al. In addition, the selectionand detailed parameters of devices each part were provided for the foundation ofengineering construction.
