The frequent occurrence of natural or unexpected disasters and public crisis eventshas become a common social phenomenon. With the development of science and mediatechnology, human beings have entered an era of new media communication. In this era,it’s possible for every crisis event to be transmitted into each corner of the world in aremarkably short period of time, resulting in a worldwide crisis. Crisis transmission, asan unbalanced and fragile information system, is a special form of informationtransmission. Under the new media environment, info-owners and transmissionchannels have diversified; the interaction between crisis information disseminators andembracers is more complicated than that in general communication; crisis information isoften full of confusing symbols and uncertain meanings in the process of transmissionand sharing; what’s more, crisis events have the characteristics of burstiness, complexityand harmfulness, and the embracers are thirst for crisis information. All these factorsbring great challenges to crisis transmission. In the transmission of crisis events, such advantages of new media, especially ofsocial media, as timeliness, interaction between disseminators and embracers, and fissiletransmission meet the mass’ need of crisis information to a degree. Meanwhile, theinformation might also be fragmented, sentimental and inveracious. Thus, traditionalmedia should take their social responsibility to transmit the truth and eliminate potentialcrisis caused by rumors in the first time. In the transmission of crisis events, with suchunique features as synchronism, authenticity and unpredictability, the TV live newsbroadcast can greatly remedy the defects and disadvantages of traditional media in thecompetition with new media, vastly ensuring the embracers’ right to know publicinformation and the effects of communicating.Beginning with a review of TV live broadcast of crisis events, this thesis discussesnew characteristics and transmitting models of crisis information under the new mediaenvironment, and analyzes reporters, content, carriers and channels of TV live crisisbroadcast in the new era. It also indicates insufficiency of news exposure and analysis inTV live broadcast, uncertainty of mass-provided information, and irrational reports forattracting the mass’ attention in the new media era, and corresponding measures andproposals.
