Study On The Current College Students’ Awareness Of National Security Education

On November 12 th, 2013, it was pointed out in the Third Plenary Session of the Eighteenth Central Committee of CPC that the National Security Council would be set up in order to improve national security system and national security strategy in order to ensure the national security. General Secretary Xi illustrated the importance of establishing the national security council after the Third Plenary Session of the Eighteenth Central Committee of CPC. He explained that the priorities of National Security Council was to formulate and implement the national security strategy, to promote the legal construction of national security, to develop national security policies and solve the major issues of national security work. It is obvious that national security issues are becoming more and more prominent, and the state security work is getting more and more attention from the Party and state leaders. The contemporary university students are the backbone and pillar of the country and their awareness of national security is directly related to the country’s prosperity and stability. However, the contemporary university students’ awareness of national security is relatively weak and there are also some problems on educational work in their national security awareness. From the perspective of contemporary university students’ awareness of national security education, this thesis studies the necessity and urgency of national security education of contemporary university students, analyzes the achievements and existing problems in the field of contemporary university student’s awareness of national security education, and then goes deeper to put forward some constructive measures in order to effectively improve the education work on safety awareness for contemporary university students in China. Contemporary university students are the main force of national construction in future. Enhancing their awareness of national security will be more beneficial to carry out state security work and preserve China’s national sovereignty and interests.
