Along With the collapse of the political system of old China, the introduction of western science and the rise of the capitalistic mode of production, the modern China education has also experienced a transition from the old to a new one. Designed originally as a tool for missionary, the education activities of missionaries in China constituted a part of Chinese education in the history. In this process, the physical education was also involved in a way of maximized "metabolism". The study tries to conduct an investigation in the development of missionary schools in Hubei and grasp the development of China’s modern school education in a broader perspective, by which analyze the development characteristics and historical significance, aiming to summarize the historical experience and made it a reference for today’s school education. Missionary school in Hubei province is the birthplace of physical education in the modern missionary schools, so the understanding of the "source" of physical education is beneficial for the understanding of the coming "flow" and "change" and also the all development pattern of physical education,By recalling the history of physical education in the modern missionary schools from 1840 to 1952, the study excavates and presents the history situation of physical education in that time, and analyze its impacts on the physical education of Hubei province and even the whole nation, which could provide a inspiration for the reforms of current school physical education in Hubei province.Studies suggest that:(1) In the history of Hubei missionary schools, from elementary schools to colleges and universities, Hua Chung University and Boone Memorial University, who were the predecessors of Central China Normal University, were typical models of the educational system of missionary schools at that time, leading in the development of school physical education among Hubei province. Besides, Weaken College, Bowen College and Boxer College, as the predecessors of Central China Normal University, during their transition into Boon Memorial University and Hua Chung University, the physical education, extracurricular activities, special physical education curriculum-Boy scouts Physical Education, first Hubei summer camp, student army sports, sports competitions, physical education with teachers and sports facilities, etc, constitute a typical case in the process of Hubei Missionary School Physical Education development. This school is a classic model of physical education development in missionary school and it swept to the whole missionary education period; (2) Guided by the concept of "comprehensive liberal education", missionary school paid particular attention to physical education, so campus physical culture remained active during the whole period of Church education mode. Influenced by school physical education, Bun Dairying and Song Hair, who were the modern Chinese physical education pioneer and contributor, accelerated the spreading of modern physical education to Hubei Province and even to the whole country; (3)The physical education in Hubei missionary schools had a positive effect on the development of China’s physical education, and the main perspectives are that:in the respect of school physical education, its main function is enlightenment and playing as a sports role model to expand and enrich the content of the modern school physical education, establishing the school physical education for women for the first time; the impact on competitive sports development mainly lies in that Hubei missionary school system has become the bridge and medium for modern Hubei Province to participate in international sports competitions, such as the Olympic Games.Conclusions:(1) The development of missionary schools, dated from late 19 century, was a kind of culture infiltration. Accordingly, the spread of the sports in missionary schools reduced status of the traditional sports. Meanwhile, the development of missionary school accelerated the spread of sport culture, and increased the communication among regions by sport matches.(2) School physical education in missionary schools have an important instructive function in the development of school physical education in central China. However, the researches on the history of school physical education in missionary schools in Hubei province are relatively rare. (3) Based on the dominant characteristics of Missionary School Physical Education development in Hubei, which is the development of school sports Campus Sports Culture by sport events, and the basic form of school sports development is the combination of guidance forced by missionary schools to promote the physical education in school.Because this paper is from the perspective of "Hubei Sports and Physical Education in Modern Foreign exchange history," and it belongs to the branch of research, rather tha n history, religious history, political and military perspective Ethnic History class, therefo re more of this article is from the front of the argument and analysis. This is the place to be noted herein.
