With the highly development of the new media, which is on the behalf of theInternet,"media-controlled existence" has become an important characterization ofsocial life. The entertaining personalized service, shared content and the timelyinteraction of new media attract the undergraduates, which becomes their maininformation channel and influences their behavior profoundly. For the undergraduates,the digital media literacy is not only the basic requirement of their global competition,the necessary support for their socialization process, but also the essential quality toachieve their life-long learning in the new media age. At this point, the digital medialiteracy education for them is necessary and urgent. It can help students to achievebetter self-development through the improvement of their media cognitive ability andmedia skill.This paper analyzes the Importance of digital media literacy education throughthe review of media literacy education theory and the relevant research results. It focuson digital Media Literacy Education System, which includes the goal, the content, theimplement and the evaluation. The goal of undergraduate media literacy education is toculture the fresh citizen with independent awareness of media information and criticalthinking. The educational content should be visual culture selected follow a certainprinciples, like the value, the balance, the dynamic generation. In its implementationprocess, schools are required to develop their unique school-based curriculums and tosupport a full range of information technology environment. Teachers should be shilledin some teaching strategies in teaching practice. The last but not least, the evaluationsystem should combine the authentic assessment and the traditional evaluation.
