ObjectiveThe purpose of this project is to know the status of maternal health literacy and to analyze relevant factors that may affect the level of maternal health literacy, then to determine the focus groups of low health literacy and put forward relevant suggestions, in order to provide references to carry out targeted health education and health promotion,improve the level of maternal health literacy and the quality of births.Methods500 pregnant women who were checked up and gave birth from May to September in2015 in Maternal and child health care hospital of Shanxi Province were selected to do survey face to face, using the “Maternal and Child Health Literacy Assessment Questionnaire” published by health department in February 2012. The questionnaire includs maternal basic situation, maternal prenatal care knowledge, attitude and behavior,maternal health, maternal and child health literacy assessment. The database was established by Epidata3.1 and the results were analyzed by SPSSl9.0. Maternal basic situation, maternal prenatal care knowledge, attitude and behavior, maternal health,maternal and child health literacy assessment data were analyzed by statistical description,influencing factors of the basic health literacy were analyzed by Chi-square test and logistic regression analysis, correlation between health literacy scores was analyzed by Spearman rank correlation analysis.Results1.The status of maternal and child health literacyThe questionnaires were divided into pass at 60 score, the pass rate of basic health literacy on 500 pregnant women was 8.6%, and the pass rate of health knowledge, health behavior and health skills was 17.0%, 3.0%, 11.2% respectively, overall response to maternal health behavior related questions was the lowest.2.The influencing factors of maternal and child health literacyThird trimester women(OR=21.947, 95%CI:2.779~173.341), pregnant women(OR=25.606, 95%CI: 3.174~206.587), school lectures frequency at 5 or more times(OR=7.073, 95%CI:1.610~31.066), higher self-evaluation of health status(OR=2.619,95%CI:1.111~6.171) have a higher pass rate at maternal and child health literacy(P<0.05).ConclusionThe level of maternal health literacy on 500 pregnant women is generally low,maternal health knowledge has not been effectively translated into health behavior and skills, so it is necessary to increase the health behavior literacy and health skills literacy.There was a significant positive correlation between the score of health knowledge, healthy behavior and healthy skills. Pregnancy, whether have heard of pregnant school curriculum and self-evaluation of health status are important factors to affect the level of maternal health literacy. We should strengthen pregnant women school health education, promote the formation of healthy lifestyle and behavior and regularly monitor and assess to improve the level of maternal health literacy from the hands.
