Objectives: To understand the current status of maternal and infant health literacy and its impact on pregnancy outcomes in Gansu Province, and provide suggestions for preventing and reducing the incidence of pregnancy-related diseases and adverse pregnancy outcomes, maintaining the health of mothers and infants, and improving related strategies. Methods: Based on the inclusion criteria, select 2018-2019 third-level Class A hospitals(including maternity and childbirth hospitals and general hospitals in Gansu Province)of Gansu Province for outpatient construction cards and routine pregnancy tests and plan to give birth in the hospital as pregnant women. The research subjects investigated the current status of maternal and infant health literacy with face-to-face questionnaires, and combined the data on pregnancy outcomes to analyze the impact of maternal and infant health literacy on pregnancy outcomes.Results:1.Health Literacy of Maternal and Infant in Gansu Province1.1 Health literacy scores and passing rates of urban and rural pregnant women in Gansu ProvinceOn the whole, the total scores of maternal and infant health literacy assessment content(38.9%)and the passing rate of each individual content were not high among urban and rural pregnant women in Gansu Province. The passing rate of basic knowledge of mothers and infants(44.6%)was the highest. The passing rate of knowledge(21.4%)is the lowest;the passing score of urban pregnant women(61.2%)is higher than that of rural pregnant women(19.8%).And the correct rate are increasing(P <0.05).1.2 Accuracy of the evaluation of each part of urban and rural pregnant women in Gansu ProvincePregnant women in Gansu Province have the highest correct rate of basic knowledge of mothers and infants(53.0%),the lowest correct rate of knowledge of infants and young children(41.0%);the correct rate of basic skills of pregnant women(41.4%)is the lowest;urban pregnant women evaluate each part. The accuracy of the content is higher than that of rural pregnant women.1.3 Knowledge of specific assessment questions for urban and rural pregnant women in Gansu ProvinceThe awareness rate of pregnant women in urban and rural areas in Gansu Province is biased towards common sense maternal and infant health knowledge, the highest awareness rate is 86.1%;the awareness rate of content that favors physiological indicators is the worst, the highest awareness rate is 37.2%;Among the index questions, the awareness rate of pregnant women’s knowledge about infants is poor, and the awareness rate of some women’s lifestyles is poor.2.Factors Affecting Maternal and infant Health Literacy in Gansu ProvinceAge,education, occupation, annual income, and the way in which the mother and infant expect the delivery are the factors that affect the level of maternal and infant health literacy in Gansu Province(P <0.05).Among them, education, occupation, and annual income are important factors.Utilization of health services3.Utilization of Maternal Health Services in Gansu ProvinceMost pregnant women have a good willingness to learn and an initiative to use health service resources. However, only 33.7% of pregnant women have attended a pregnant women course, and the participation rate decreases with increasing frequency.Judging from the way to obtain knowledge about maternal and infant health, the most hopeful way for pregnant women is health lectures and health consultations, followed by health education communication materials.4.Effects of maternal and infant health literacy on pregnancy outcomes in Gansu ProvinceThe number of maternal checkups, delivery methods, reasons for cesarean section, breastfeeding, successful breastfeeding for the first time postpartum, pregnancy with anemia, postpartum hemorrhage, neonatal weight, and presence of combined diseases are all related to their mother and infant health, there was a correlation(P <0.05).Conclusions:1.On the whole, the maternal and infant health literacy of urban and ruralmothers and babies in Gansu Province is at a low level. The knowledge level is dominated by general knowledge of life, but the physiological knowledge affecting the health of mothers and babies is less and unsystematic, showing that urban areas are better than rural areas.2.Factors that affect the level of maternal and infant health literacy include age, education, occupation, annual income, and the type of delivery the mother wants, and the degree of education, occupation, and annual income has a greater impact.3.The level of maternal and infant health literacy and the number of birth inspections, delivery methods, reasons for cesarean section, whether breastfeeding, successful breastfeeding for the first time postpartum, pregnancy with anemia, postpartum hemorrhage, neonatal weight, and the presence of combined diseases.Relevant relationships and overall improvement of maternal and infant health literacy can effectively avoid and reduce the occurrence of adverse pregnancy outcomes.4.The existing health service resource allocation, targeted health education, and maternal health service methods are all imperfect.
