Objective Through the study of variant asthma cough (CVA), Firstly, clarify the syndrome types of Traditional Chinese Medicine(TCM). Secondly, clarify the effect of traditional Chinese medicine combined with Western medicine (TCM-West). Finally, discuss the relevant mechanism of CVA and analyses the role of TLR2 in the pathogenesis of CVA.Methods Part 1:Retrospectively analysis all of the CVA patients treated by Zhu Jia Professor in recent 2 years, include each type of the patients for subsequent research. Part 2: Sixty-four CVA patients were randomly allocated to the TCM-West and West groups. Using the syndrome score, Visual Analog Score (VAS),Exhaled nitric oxide and IgE to assess the treatment effect, using SPSS17.0 statistical data analysis, comparison difference of efficacy of Chinese and Western combination medicine in CVA (wind and phlegm syndrome). Part 3: Collection blood of CVA patients of bronchodilation test with positive result 14 cases, patients measured blood monocytes and neutrophils TLR2 expression and compared with the healthy control group (10 cases). Results 1. Wind-phlegm blocking lung is the most common type (45.3%).2.34 patients were allocated to TCM-West group and 30 in West group. The effective rate of TCM-West group is 93.7% and the West group is 73.33%. The overall effect of the two groups had significant difference (P<0.01).3. Blood neutrophils expression of TLR2 of CVA patients was significantly higher than the healthy control group (P<0.01). While blood mononuclear cells TLR2 expression compared with healthy control group shows no significant difference (P>0.05).Conclusion 1.Patients with lung wind-Phlegm syndrome is the main type; 2.Integrative medicine for the treatment of CVA is much better than western medicine alone; 3.TLR2 may play a role in the pathogenesis of CVA, and the detection of blood neutrophils TLR2 expression may be used to assist in cough variant asthma diagnosis or treatment.
