ObjectiveBy comparing the changes in pain index, joint mobility, and clinical symptoms before and after treatment, was evaluated the clinical efficacy of electric acupuncture combined with grain-sized moxibustion in treating periarthritis of shoulder, so as to provide some reference for the selection of more feasible and effective treatment options.Methods60 patients of periarthritis of shoulder, according with the diagnosis of the standard of TCM and Western Medicine, and the inclusive criteria, were selected from the department of traditional therapy and acupuncture in Guangdong Province Traditional Chinese Medical Hospital. According to the principle of random control, was divided into observation group and routine group as the proportion of 1:1, each group had 30 cases. The former was treated with electro acupuncture and grain-sized moxibustion combined therapy, the latter was only done with electro acupuncture therapy. The prescription of acupuncture is JianYu point, JianLiao point, JianZhen point, Anterior point of the shoulder and Ashi point, combined with distal acupoints. All of patients were treated 1 times a day,6 times a week, and were evaluated the curative effect after 2 weeks. Taking pain index (VAS), joint activity (ROM) and CMS score of the shoulder joint function as the observation index, were analyzed and compared the score of the two groups before and after treatment, by using statistical methods.Results1. Before treatment, the comparison of the general factors (the gender, age and course of disease) in the two groups:there was no statistically significant difference (P>0.05). And the VAS, ROM and CMS shoulder function score as well.2. Compared with prior treatment, the VAS scores of the two groups were significantly decreased after treatment, and the difference was statistically significant (P<0.05). It can be concluded that, two types of therapy can be alleviated the pain. The VAS score of the observation group was less than that of the routine group, and the difference was statistically significant (P < 0.05).It suggests that, in terms of pain relief, the therapy of the observation group was better than that of the routine group.3. After treatment, the ROM score of two groups, compared with prior treatment, were significantly improved, the differences were statistically significant (P<0.05). It can be concluded that, two types of therapy can be improved the joint mobility. The ROM score of the observation group was higher than that of the routine group, and the difference was statistically significant (P<0.05). It suggests that, in improving the degree of joint activity, the therapy of the observation group was superior than that of the routine group.4. After treatment, the CMS score of two groups, compared with prior treatment, were significantly ascended, the differences were statistically significant (P<0.05). It can be reached that, two types of therapy can be improved the function of shoulder joints. Compared with routine group, the CMS score of the observation group was much higher, and the difference was statistically significant (P<0.05). It indicated that, the observation group was superior to the routine group in improving the function of the shoulder joints.5. Compared with prior treatment, in treating periarthritis of shoulder, two types of therapy both showed great curative effect in the clinical symptoms and function. The overall outcome as follows:in the observation group, there were 7 cases cured,15 cases were significantly effective,7 cases were effective, and 1 cases were ineffective; In the routine group, there were 4 cases cured,9 cases were remarkably effective,13 cases were effective, and 4 cases were not effective. The total effective rate of the observation group and the routine group were 96.67% and 86.67%. The overall efficacy of the observation group was better than that of the routine group, the difference was statistically significant (P<0.05).ConclusionIn this study, we observed the clinical efficacy of electric acupuncture combined with grain-sized moxibustion treatment of periarthritis of shoulder, the result shows that:to relieve pain, improve joint mobility and the function, the therapy of the observation group was much better than that of the routine group. The therapy of electric acupuncture combined with grain-sized moxibustion, is remarkable in the aspect of curative effect, and the operation is high. It is worth to be popularized in clinical application.
