Objectives:This research has collects the basic data of Pi-man patients (patients with stomach distention and fullness), and distinguishes the TCM (Traditional Chinese Medicine) syndrome-types and TCM body constitutions. Aims to understand the clinical characteristics of the distention and fullness of stomach, by combining the body constitution theory of TCM and clinical applications, utilizing the method of clinical investigation, analyzing the distribution of the TCM syndrome-types of Pi-man and TCM body constitutions. Then, find the correlation between them by statistical analysis, which could provide the new ideas of the prevention and treatment of Pi-man by body constitution theory of TCM, finally, improve the treatment effects of Pi-man by TCM.Methods:Apply the method of epidemiological cross-sectional study,332 cases of Pi-man patients have been selected, with the restrict selection and exclusive standards, to complete the Constitution of Chinese Medicine Questionnaire (CCMQ). Compare the percentage of different TCM body constitutions in different Pi-man syndrome, and find the possible correlation between them by using the statistical software SPSS13.0.Results:1. There are 224 female cases (67.47%) and 108 male cases (32.53%) in 332 cases of Pi-man patients. Gender and age levels of Pi-man patients have statistical sense (P<0.05).2. As for the predisposing factors of Pi-man, unclean eating has the highest related frequency, with the rate of 32.56%, followed by the emotional depression; high oil diet and strong tea are the two major factors in eating habits; as for smoking and drinking,277 (83.43%) patients are non-smoking people and 290 (87.34%) patients are non-drinking people; as for the exercise frequency,185 (55.06%) patients never do exercise, and 82 (24.69%) patients have one-hour exercise per day averagely.3. The distribution of Pi-man TCM syndrome-types have statistical senses (P<0.05) with gender, age, eating habits respectively, while no statistical sense (P<0.05) with exercise frequency; The distribution of TCM body constitutions have statistical senses (P<0.05) with gender, age, eating habits respectively, while no statistical sense (P<0.05) with exercise frequency.4. The frequencies of each TCM syndrome-types of these Pi-man patients are: syndrome of deficiency of spleen and stomach (24.09%), syndrome of incoordination between liver and stomach (18.98%), syndrome of stagnation of phlegm dampness (18.98%), syndrome of damp heat obstructing stomach (17.17%), syndrome of food stagnation (11.44%) and syndrome of stomach yin deficiency (9.34%).5. There are 53 cases (15.96%) of gentleness type,245 cases (73.80%) of biased constitution type and 34 cases (10.24%) of combined type. The single body constitution types are as follows:yang-deficiency type (42.50%), qi-depression type (17.79%), gentleness type (17.09%), qi-deficiency type (11.09%), yin-deficiency type (7.72%), damp-heat type (7.38%), phlegm-wet type (7.05%), blood-stasis type (5.03%) and special inherited type (1.68%).6. As for the patients with the syndrome of deficiency of spleen and stomach, yang-deficiency type has the highest frequency rate, with the percentage of 33.80% while qi-deficiency type are 19.72%; as for the patients with the syndrome of stagnation of phlegm dampness, qi-depression type (46.32%) account for the largest part; as for the syndrome of stagnation of phlegm dampness, yang-depression type (36,84%), phlegm-wet type (19.30%); as for the syndrome of damp heat obstructing stomach, damp-heat type (32.65%) has the highest frequency rate followed by the gentleness type (24.49%).7. As for the yang-deficiency type, syndrome of deficiency of spleen and stomach (32.88%) accounts for the largest part while syndrome of stagnation of phlegm dampness is 28.71%; as for the gentleness type, syndrome of food stagnation (32.08%) has the highest frequency rate; as for the qi-depression type, syndrome of incoordination between liver and stomach (49.06%) accounts for the largest part; as for the qi-deficiency type, syndrome of deficiency of spleen and stomach (42.42%) has the highest frequency rate, followed by syndrome of stagnation of phlegm dampness (21.21%); as for the yin-deficiency type, syndrome of stomach yin deficiency (60.87%) accounts for the largest part; as for the damp-heat type, syndrome of damp heat obstructing stomach (72.73%) accounts for the largest part; as for the phlegm-wet type, syndrome of stagnation of phlegm dampness (52.38%) has the highest frequency rate, followed by syndrome of damp heat obstructing stomach (28.57%).8. Pi-man TCM syndrome-types have statistical senses (P<0.05) with TCM body constitutions. Conclusion:In Pi-man patients the common TCM syndrome types are syndrome of deficiency of spleen and stomach, syndrome of incoordination between liver and stomach, syndrome of stagnation of phlegm dampness and syndrome of damp heat obstructing stomach, while the common TCM body constitutions are yang-deficiency type, qi-depression type and gentleness type and qi-deficiency type. There is a significant correlation between TCM syndrome types and TCM body constitutions, the body constitutions could define and transfer to the diseased TCM syndrome types due to the susceptibility and tendency. Patients who defined as yang-deficiency type and qi-deficiency type are predisposed to syndrome of deficiency of spleen and stomach; damp-wet type patients are predisposed to syndrome of damp heat obstructing stomach; yin-deficiency patients are predisposed to syndrome of stomach yin deficiency. This research has study the correlation of TCM syndrome types and TCM body constitutions, combines the identification of disease, syndrome-type and body constitutions, and recuperates the body constitution of patients to improve the treatment effects of Pi-man by TCM, and decrease the recurrence rate and the canceration rate. |
