| Retail pharmacies in our country has been developing rapidly since the reform and opening up, quickly accepted by the vast number of medicine consumers because of lower price, widely covering range, convenient to purchase and better service attitude. Have to say that it had become considerable scale to this century. People pay more and more attention to the quality of our lives with the improvement of the quality of life and the accelerated pace of life, which have prompted the retail pharmacy to become an important part of people’s life. In addition, desire for pharmaceutical services gradually increased under the context that serious illness to the hospital and minor illnesses to the pharmacy has become a new concept of medicine consumption and independent purchase frequency has increased significantly. In 2003, unexpected event of SARS not only shocked the whole of China, but also exposed the shortcomings of china’s medical and health system. After that, the Chinese government proposed to carry out the reform of the new medical and health system. Chinese government adopted the opinions on deepening the reform of the medical and health system in 2009 and a series of medical and health reform policies were formulated one after another, which is called new medical reform. However, the new medical reform has brought great attacks on the retail pharmacies that have been in vigorous development since the reform and opening up in china. OBJECTIVE: The rapid development of the retail pharmacies determined the internal uneven in quality, bringing a variety of security risks to the consumers. In order to ensure the safety of drug use for the people, the purpose of this study is to explore a new path for the development of China’s retail pharmacies under such background. METHODS: This paper takes Zhengzhou city as the object of investigation, investigating the retail pharmacies by means of questionnaire survey and field trips. Combining with National Yearbook published by the relevant departments of the state, annual statistical reports and data collected on the official website in the past several years, comprehensive evaluation on the current situation of the development of the retail pharmacy and pharmaceutical services in the context of the new medical and health system reform in china is presented. Besides, the existing shortcomings, development and improvement strategies are also explored in this paper. RESULTS: Since the implementation of the new medical and health system reform the pace of China’s retail drugstores’ development has been slow down,market share become decline, structure and distribution is not perfect. At the same time, although it was reported in more complete, pharmaceutical service in our country in general is still in development stage, licensed pharmacist shortage and occasional "anchored" phenomenon is still restricting the development of pharmaceutical services in China. In Zhengzhou City, the survey results showed the same trend. CONCLUSIONS: The new medical and health system reform has a significant impact on the development of retail pharmacies in China. At the same time, the pharmaceutical care in China is still in the stage of development. |
