| ObjectiveTo understand the status quo of tobacco and alcohol dependence, and addiction to the Internet and mobile phone among university students and its related factors,analyze differences in distribution among sub populations, and find the features of the group with a high incidence; and to explore the relationship of tobacco and alcohol dependence and addiction to the internet and mobile phones with such factors as interpersonal disturbance, anxiety, and parenting; analyze the relationship of the alcohol and tobacco dependence with addiction to the Internet and mobile phones;and to provide scientific basis for preventing and treating health risk behavior among adolescents.MethodsTo adopt on-site self-assessment questionnaire; the contents of questionnaire include demographic characteristic of university students, addiction to mobile phone and Internet, parenting, troubled relationships, and level of anxiety. For the database,use EpiData3.1 for double entry and validation and use SPSS21.0 for statistical processing and analysis. The significance level α = 0.05.Results1. The prevalence rate of “attempted smokingâ€, “current smokerâ€, and “heavy smoking†among university students were 34.08%, 6.40%, and 0.76%, respectively;the prevalence rate of “attempted drinkingâ€, “current drinkerâ€, “heavy drinkingâ€, and“drunken drinking†were 67.84%, 12.49%, 9.35%, and 12.36%, respectively.2. The total prevalence rate of “tendency of addiction to the Internet†among university students were 9.80%(153 persons); the difference in gender, grade and specialty was 3.07%(48 persons) and the difference in gender was statistically significant(P<0.01); the total prevalence rate of “addiction to mobile phone†was19.73%(308 persons) and the difference in gender, grade and specialty was statistically significant(P<0.001).3. Multivariate logistic regression analysis showed that such characteristics as women, caring mother, independence encouraged by father, father’s protection, and father’s education with a college degree and above are protective factors(P<0.05)against tobacco and alcohol dependence, and addiction to mobile phone and Internet among university students. The factors including males, anxiety status, interpersonal distress, and control by parents are risk factors(P<0.05) exposing university students to tobacco and alcohol use, and addiction to mobile phone and Internet.Conclusion1. For the alcohol-tobacco dependence among university students, the prevalence rate in men is generally than that in women, and increases with the progression of grades; the prevalence rate of mobile phone addiction is more prominent in women, whereas the men are more prone to Internet addiction.2. Tobacco and alcohol use, and addiction to mobile phone and Internet among university students had statistical association with interpersonal disturbance, anxiety,and parenting; there was a high incidence of alcohol and tobacco use, and addiction to Internet among university students who suffer from troubled relationships, anxiety,and parental controls. Female university students suffering from anxiety and troubled interpersonal relations are at high risk of addiction to mobile phone and Internet.3. Among university students, those suffering from tobacco and alcohol use,mobile phone addiction, and Internet addiction have common protective factors:caring mother, independence encouraged by father, father’s education with a college degree and above; they have common risk factors: anxiety, troubled interpersonal relations and parental control. |
