ObjectiveTo explore the relationship between body weight and chronic diseases of the elderly, and to analyze the relationship between weight change and biochemical indicators, so as to provide a scientific basis for chronic disease management and health education for the elderly.Subjects and methods1.3833 old persons aged over 60 years in Weitang Town,Suzhou City Xiangcheng District were surveyed, including demographic data and disease history, behavior and lifestyle conditions; measurement of height, weight, resting heart rate and blood pressure; fasting blood glucose, cholesterol, and hemoglobin, all subjects to the provision of medical items consent.2. Measurement data were expressed as mean ± standard deviation(x ± s), between the two groups were compared using t-test, among groups were compared using ANOVA. Count data were expressed as rate, rate compared using chi-square test. Using generalized estimating equations for repeated measures(generalized estimation equation, Gee) analyze the relationship between changes in body weight and lipid content change between four years. The weight change as independent variables, each biochemical indices change as the dependent variable was analyzed. P <0.05 was considered statistically significant.Results1. a total of 3833 elderly people participated in the examination, including male 1956, female 1877 people, male and female ratio was 1.04: 1.2. From the behavior and lifestyle analysis, male smoking rate, alcohol consumption rate, tea rate and movement rate is higher than women, the elderly obesity rates for all ages decreased with age.3. From obese and non-obese group analyzed the incidence of chronic diseases, in addition to anemia, prevalence of chronic diseases for obese group is higher than these for non-obese. The results showed that obese is the risk of hypertension, high blood triglycerides disease, high cholesterol, low high-density lipoprotein cholesterol and diabetes; addition to the high-density lipoprotein cholesterol, the body weight changes correlated with other indicators were changed. using Multivariate Logistic regression analysis on the relationship between the risk of chronic diseases and obesity.Conclusion1. Still most of Weitang elderly population are unhealthy philosophy of life, strengthening health education is the top priority of the elderly management.2. Weitang elderly obesity rate is higher than elsewhere in Suzhou and even higher than the national level, and follow-up manage the elders who are screened out of the of high-risk groups, health education and health promotion activities, promote reasonable diet, exercise and weight control enhanced, thereby reducing chronic diseases to farmers enormous economic burden.3. For obesity and chronic diseases, can improve the disease state, ease the development of the disease by reducing weight.
