Objectives:1. To analyze the variation of the occlusal contact of complete denture with time by Tee Tester digital occlusal analysis system under intercuspal position.2. To provide an efficient and accurate method to guide clinicians to adjust the occlusal contact from experience to quantification and to provide a reference for the stability of complete denture. Methods:Totally 39 edentulous patients asking for restoration with complete denture were collected from Department of Prosthodontics in the Affiliated Stomatological Hospital of Nanchang University. Recorded their gender, age, the history of wearing complete denture and the condition of alveolar ridge. Took pictures of the alveolar ridge, and the frontal and side facial image pre-and post-wearing dentures. They were restored with complete denture and adjusted the occlusal contact by the articulation paper with the guiding of Tee Tester occlusal analysis system. Tested the occlusion time, maximum cumulative force, center of force after wearing the CD the first day,2 weeks,1.5 months and 3 mouths. Statistics and analysis the difference between these results as time went on using repeated measured ANOVA.Results:1、As time went on,OT and COF-X were gradually shortened, Max force and COF-Y were gradually increased, they had statistically difference(P <0.05). There were also statistically difference with OT, Max force and COF-X through pairwise comparison(P <0.05); COF-Y statistically shorten than the first day, two weeks later and 1.5 mouths(P <0.05), but there were no statistically difference two weeks later(P >0.05).2、OT and COF-X were shorter but the Max force and COF-Y were larger in the experienced patients of wearing complete denture. There were statistically difference with OT、Max force and COF-X between the experienced and the non-experiencedpatients(P <0.05).3、Men’s values were all higher than female’s in the occlusion time, Max force,COF-X and COF-Y. There had no statistically difference in the OT, Max force and the COF-Y between male and female(P>0.05), but had statistically difference in the COF-X(P <0.05).4、Patients in grade 2 alveolar ridge had smaller OT and COF-X compared with others, while Max force was different; With the alveolar ridge became gradually worse except grade 2,OT and COF-X were gradually increased, while Max force was decreased, and COF-Y was relatively stable. OT and COF-X had no significant difference among different alveolar ridge(P > 0.05); But there had significant difference in Max force and COF-Y(P <0.05).5、OT increased and Max force decreased gradually with aging; COF-X increased only in 1.5 month and 3 month; the changing of COF-Y was not obvious. OT and COF-X had no significant difference among different ages(P >0.05); But there had significant differences in Max force and COF-Y(P <0.05).6、The patient’s satisfaction in chewing capacity:Patients felt more satisfactory in chewing capacity while the longer they wore CD(P <0.05). The experienced and male patients were more satisfactory than counterparts, and the differences had statistical significance(P <0.05). However, there had no statistical significance in the grade of alveolar ridge and different ages(P >0.05).Conclusions:1、As time went on,OT gradually shortened and the value was 0.28 s after three months; The premature contact reduced and the occlusal contact came to stable quickly. The recovery of chewing with Max force increased and Max force was669.88± 102.63 N after three months. At the same time, COF-X was 2.94±1.19 mm and COF-Y was 28.38±1.80 mm, it is suggested COF tended to be center and the occlusal contact came to balance.2、The history of wearing CD, the gender, the alveolar ridge and the age all had different effects on occlusion, but the tendency of OT and COF were consistent and they could reflect the stability of occlusion if combined together.3、The digital occlusal analysis system can evaluate patients ’ occlusion andprovide a reference for the stability of complete denture.
