Objective:Based on the definition of health-related quality of life by World Health Organization, according to the programming, developing a quality of life scale for peritoneal dialysis patients with good operability, representative, validity, accuracy and fit our cultural background.Establish a scientific evaluation approach, and provide a reliable assessment tool for evaluating the quality of life for PD population. And we examined the reliability, and validity of the scale. Methods:Items pool was constructed through literature searches and interviews with PD patients, a total of five dimensions and 74 items.Through the Delphi method extracting items,20 experts from across the country were invited to join in the three consultation research, developed five dimensions of 52 items (body physiology function:9 items, disease factors:16 items, mental state:11 items, social role:10 items, satisfaction:6 items). By the method of field investigation,360 PD patients were tested, through critical ration, item distributed method, the variation coefficient method, correlation coefficient method between the items, correlation coefficient method between items and dimension, Cranbach’s a coefficient method, factor analysis 7 ways from the reliability and validity of scales screening items again, five dimensions of scale (body physiology function:5 items, disease factors:14 items, mental state:9 items, social role:7 items, satisfaction:6 items) was formed. Scale evaluation stage, according to analyzing the 304 valid scales, used the test-retest reliability, split-half reliability and internal consistency reliability test scale reliability, and through content validity, criterion-related validity, discriminantive validity and construct validity evaluating validity of the scale. Results:Quality of Life Scale for PD patients after one week test-retest reliability was 0.748; Cronbach’s Alpha coefficient was 0.936; split-half reliability was 0.814, the results were greater than 0.7, showing the scale has good reliability. Displaying this scale has good discriminantive validity between PD patients and non-patients, the difference was statistically significant. The results of criterion validity displayed the SF-36 scales with Quality of Life Scale for PD patients has good criterion-related validity, and had correlation between the test-scale’s dimensions and dimensions of SF-36, correlation coefficient between the test-scale total score and the SF-36 total score was 0.956, the results has statistical significance. When evaluating construct validity of the test-scale, through principal component factor analysis extracted 10 common factor, the relations between dimensions and common factor meet the theoretical ideas and the results of researchers expected, the individual item dislocation, researchers have done some adjustment. Eventually we formed the quality of life scale for PD patients contains 41 items, body physiology function:5 items, disease factors:15items, mental state:10 items, social role:6items, satisfactio:5 items.Conclusion:1 This study formed the quality of life scale for Chinese peritoneal dialysis patients.2 The Chinese version quality of life scale for peritoneal dialysis patients has good reliability and validity, and can be applied to evaluate the quality of life for our peritoneal dialysis patients.
