Objective:To explore the difference of quality of life(QOL) between Hui and Han ethnics inmaintenance peritoneal dialysis patients, and analyze the factors influencing quality of life inorder to explore the possible ways to improve it.Method:①109patients treated with Continuous Ambulatory Peritoneal Dialysis (CAPD) for atleast6months included in our study. We investigated Patients’ ethnic group, age, gender, causes of disease, education status, income, PD duration and dialysis prescription etc. Anddivided into two groups with nationality.②Patients’ QOL was evaluated by MedicalOutcomes Study Health Status Short Form (SF-36).③Patient’s Glomerular filtration ratewas assessed by Modification of Diet in Renal Disease (MDRD) formula.④Use Hamiltonanxiety scale and Hamilton depression scale to assess patients’ status of anxiety anddepression.⑤Patients’ nutritional status was evaluated by Subjective Global Assessment(SGA), serum albumin and so on.⑥The comorbidities were evaluated by Charlson Index.⑦Serum intact Parathyroid Hormone (iPTH), calcium and phosphorus were used to estimatethe patients’ calcium and phosphorus metabolism status.Results:①There were no significant differences in the age, gender, causes of disease, educationstatus, income, PD duration, dialysis prescription, Body Mass Index (BMI), KT/V and scoreof Charlson Index between Hui and Han’s nationalities(P>0.05).②Compared with Han,the Hui’s calcium, albumin, triglyceride, cholesterol and Glomerular filtration rate weresignificantly lower, and the level of intact Parathyroid Hormone is significantly higher(P<0.05).③There was significantly higher rate of malnutrition in the hui’s patients than in the Han’s (50%VS24.6%; P<0.05).④Compared with Han nationality, Hui has a significantlylower sore in SF-36[(52.90±20.68)VS(42.78±19.46)], PCS[(53.27±22.91)VS(39.47±20.22)],MCS[(58.30±22.68)VS(46.10±22.76)].⑤Compared with Han, Huihas a lower sore in EWB[(65.29±19.85)VS(54.65±21.60)] and Pain[(72.54±27.88)VS(47.19±30.85); P<0.05].⑥There were no significant differences in the rate of anxietyand depression between hui and han groups(P>0.05).⑦Through single factor correlationanalysis and multiple linear regression, we found SF-36were associated with race, albuminand SGA.Conclusion:PD patients of Hui and Han nationalities perceive different scores in quality of life, especially in SF-36, mental and physical health. Ethnic and nutritional status are the factorsthat affect quality of life.
