Background:Sullivan first reported the therapeutic efficacy of Continue positive airway pressure(CPAP)for patients with OSA In 1981,it is a milestone for noninvasive in the history.Meduri has Published the article about《Noninvasive face mask ventilation in patients with acute respiratory ventila tion》in 1989,NPPV was started to attract attention in the whole world. non-invasive positive pressure ventilation(NPPV) refers to the delivery of positive pressure into the lungs without an invasive endotracheal airway, usually through a mask. This technique avoide the complications associated with endotracheal intubation(EI) and conventional invasive mechanical ventilation(IMV),especially ventilator-associated pneumonia..In recent years,a growing number of studies have shown that NPPV played an import role in various respiratory system diseases patients with respiratory failure. In addition,NPPV applied to the sequential invasive noninvasive mechanical ventilation therapy and auxiliary bronchoscopy. Although NPPV’s effectiveness, safety has been widely recognized, the specific pointer of NPPV in patients is controversial and further rearch was still needed. Objective:To provide refences for the clinical study,we reiewed the research status of NPPV in the respiratory system disease. Methods:To retrieve the literature of NPPV reated to chronic obstructive pulmonary disease, bronchial asthma, acute respiratory distress syndrome, sequential invasive noninvasive mechanical ventilation therapy through Wanfang,Weipu and,Zhiwan,Pubmed database.Results:73 literature in English,6 literature in Chinese.Conclusion:1.The efficacy of NPPV is variable depending on the cause of The episode of respiratory failure. It is currently best effective,as well as the first-line treatment method for COPD,OSAHS.severe asthmatic attack patients have the potential to benefit from early respiratory support in the form of NPPV. However, reports of NPPV in asthmatic patients are scarce, therefore, now its still controversial. NPPV may bring some physiological and clinical benefits for patients which was diagnosed with bronchial asthma, severe pneumonia, influenza a H1N1,ARDS,IPF,but NPPV has been associated with high failure rates and should be very cautiously to choose appropriate patients. 2.NPPV has bring more benefits for the clinical diagnosis and treatment of diseases through assist part patients with respiratory failure to complete bronchoscope examination. 3.NPPV can. have certain superiority for DNI.
