Objective:This study was conducted to describe the level of quality of life and social support in Peritoneal dialysis Patients and to analyze the relationship between quality of life and social support in Peritoneal dialysis Patients.Methods:A cross-sectional design was used in this study. From January2013to January2014,191Peritoneal dialysis Patients who accepted Peritoneal dialysis therapy more than3months have been investigated by completed random method in three three-grade hospitals in Dalian.Instruments used for data collection consisted of3Parts:demographic information, KDQOL_SFTM scale and the Social support Rating Seale (SSRS). Descriptive analysis, t-test, ANOVA, multiple linear regression analysis and Spearman correlation were performed by using SPSS13.0.Results:1. The average scores of SF and KDAT were41.08and52.42respectively in Peritoneal dialysis Patients of this study. There was difference on different dimension or total score of quality of life about gender, age, marital status, Profession, educational level, health insurance way, Primary disease, work status, dialysis time and family income.The Patients who were female, young, single, rich and Peasants enjoyed good quality of life. The same were the Patients with secondary education and in working condition. Multiple linear regression analysis showed gender, age and family income were influencing factors of life quality in Peritoneal dialysis Patients. 2. The average scores of social Support was43.00in Peritoneal dialysis Patients of this study.There was difference on different dimension or total score of social support about gender, Profession, health insurance way and family income. The Patients who were female, white-collar and rich had good social support. The same were the Patients with Provincial health insurance and dialysis time lower than12months or more than24months.3. Spearman correlation analysis showed the correlation coeffient of SF and social support was0.305, the related coeffient of KDTA and social support was0.349. There was Positive correlation between most of scales of quality of life and social support.Conclusion:1. Some factors, such as gender, age, and family income were the risk factors for quality of life in peritoneal dialysis patients.2. The level of quality of life was positively correlated with social.3. The peritoneal dialysis patients are inclined to "resignation" coping style when facing the disease. Peritoneal dialysis patients have a lower level of QOL compared with normal population. The more "confrontation" coping style and the less "resignation" coping style PD patients use and the better QOL they enjoy.
