Objective This study aims to analyze the risk factors associated withvascular dementia after ischemic stroke in patients and the characteristics of thepatient’s brain MRI after VD to investigate the relationship between the incidenceand VD.Methods Selected51VD patients after cerebral infarction who had beenhospitalized in the Department of Neurology of Ningxia Hui Autonomous RegionPeople’s Hospital during January2012to July2013, these diagnosis up to the VDtreatment standards that was established by the Chinese Medical AssociationNeuropathy Academy in2002.48Non-VD patients with cerebral infarction wereselected in the same period for non-VD group (control group). Ischemic strokediagnostic criteria meet the diagnostic criteria in1995the Chinese MedicalAssociation4th National Conference on Cerebrovascular Disease pass.99cases ofstroke patients were treated with Mini-Mental Scale (MMSE) at3months afterstroke, HIS Scale and the Montreal Cognitive Assessment (MoCA) its assessmentof cognitive function. To Compare and analyze the risk factors for VD group andnon-group of patients with VD and cranial MRI characteristics.Results1. The infarction incidence of the frontal cortex was significantly higher thanthe control group(X2=6.10, P<0.05). The infarction incidence of the subcorticalfrontal lobe was significantly higher than the control group(X2=4.45,P<0.05). Theinternal capsule of the subcortical frontal lobe was significantly higher than the control group (X2=3.96, P<0.05).The internal capsule of the thalamus wassignificantly higher(X2=4.78, P<0.05).2. The incidence of large infarction in dementia group was significantlyhigher than the control group(X2=9.11,P<0.05);The incidence of mediuminfarction in dementia group was significantly higher than the control group(X2=5.58, P<0.05).3.Smoking in VD group was significantly higher than the controlgroup(X2=12.41, P<0.05).Hypertension in VD group were significantly higherthan those in control group(X2=4.50, P<0.05).Diabetes in VD group wassignificantly higher than the control group(X2=5.619,P<0.05).4.Age,diabetes,coronary heart disease, hyperlipidemia in VD group were notsignificantly higher than those in control group(P>0.05).Conclusion1.The infarction in Prefrontal cortex, subcortical frontal lobe, thalamus andinternal capsule can lead to the occurrence of VD more easier.2.Large infarction and infarct can lead to VD more easier than lacunarinfarction.3. Smoking, hypertension, diabetes were associated with VD;Age, coronaryartery disease, and hyperlipidemia were not related to VD.
