Clinical Observation On Vascular Dementia Treated By "Yi Qi Tiao Xue, Fu Ben Pei Yuan" Acupuncture Treatment

Objective:The purpose of this research is to observe clinical effects on vascular dementia (VD) treated by "Yi Qi Tiao Xue, Fu Ben Pei Yuan" acupuncture therapy and the mechanism of,and provide a scientific basis for clinical applications.Methods:30patients were randomly divided into acupuncture group(n=15) and western medicine group (n=15). The acupuncture group was treated by acupuncture of "Danzhong"(CV17),"Zhongwan"(CV12),"Qihai"(CV6),"Xuehai"(SP10),"Zusanli"(ST36) and "Waiguan"(SJ5). The western medicine group received donepezil hydrochloride (Aricept). The patients of two groups were all given basis treatment on cerebro vascular disease.The indexes of two groups such as MMSE scores and ADL scores were observed Before treatment and after12weeks of treatment.Results:(1)MMSE scores:Compared with pre-treatment,the MMSE scores of two groups were significantly higher after treatment(P<0.01). The MMSE scores have no statistically significant difference between the two groups after treatment (P>0.05). The effective percentage of the two groups have no statistically significant difference (P>0.05).(2)ADL scores:Compared with pre-treatment, the ADL scores of the two groups after treatment were significantly Iower(P<0.01). Meanwhile, the ADL scores of acupuncture after treatment were significantly lower than the western medicine group(P<0.05). The effective percentage of the two groups have no statistically significant difference (P>0.05).Conclusion:The "Yi Qi Tiao Xue, Fu Ben Pei Yuan" and Aricept can all significantly improve cognitive function and activities of daily living in patients with VD.Meanwhile,the "Yi Qi Tiao Xue, Fu Ben Pei Yuan" acupuncture method have an advantage in improving activities of daily living.
