This study is a part of Chongqing social sciences planning project“Chongqing city public medical and health resources rational allocation,cancer prevention and control strategy”.Objective Cancer as a major health problem, the government hasinvested a lot of health resources to cancer prevention and control work,most of these resources to tilt cancer treatment and accounts for only asmall part of the cancer prevention work, stalled because of the advances inthe treatment of tumors in recent years, the cause of health resourcesutilization rate is not high, tumor prevention and treatment effect is notideal. In fact, many tumors are preventable and treatable, advocate thethought of preventive treatment of disease, complete the cancer earlydetection, early diagnosis, early treatment, is an effective way to reducecancer incidence and mortality. In order to understand the awareness ofprevention knowledge and behavior of the tumor rate status, and providescientific basis for cancer prevention and control work in healthintervention, this study conducted a questionnaire survey. Methods Three stage random sampling method was used,3districtsand counties were randomly selected from Chongqing urban city, WesternChongqing corridor, and the Three Gorges Reservoir area, then randomlyselected in each district and county of a community, each randomly50~80households in the community, the questionnaire survey to every member ofthe family. This survey finally extracts YuZhong district of Chongqingurban city, Yongchuan district of Western Chongqing corridor, and Wushancounty of Three Gorges Reservoir area to investigate, finally get238validquestionnaires; the effective rate was99.2%. Using “The questionnaire ofcancer prevention knowledge and behaviors among residents”(Self-design)to investigate, the main content of questionnaire include five parts: generalcondition, cancer related knowledge, cancer behavior risk factors, attitudetoward cancer early detection and tumor early detection need.Questionnaire through cancer hospital in Chongqing and the first affiliatedhospital of Chongqing medical university statistics experts review, afterpreliminary investigation to modify. By a unified training investigatorsdoor-to-door survey, questionnaires filled in by the residents themselves,investigators help residents who are illiteracy to fill in through answersfrom residents. Check the questionnaire, using Epidata3.1software doubledata entry and consistency inspection, using SPSS19.0statistical analysissoftware, using general statistical description such as percentage to explainthe results. Results We chose238community residents in Chongqing asrespondents,109men (54.2%),129women (54.2%) among them, and agerange of respondents was in15year to80year. Ordinary residents werepriority among respondents, junior college degree and above educationallevel was priority. The family per capita monthly income was given priorityto with1000-2000Yuan. Health care situation was given priority to withthe fundamental medical insurance system of urban employee. Awarenessrate of an early sign of cancer was not high among residents, most peopleanswered wrong or did not understand. Awareness rate of cancer preventionlifestyles was higher, more than50%each. Risk factors in cancer relatedsurvey, more than70%of the residents knew eating smoked food, smokingand alcohol abuse was tumor related behavior risk factors; awareness oflack of exercise, depression and obesity increased the risk of tumors waslower. Most residents thought cancer prevention and control is closelyrelated to them, accounting for81.51%of the total number of investigation,residents of tumors early detection knowledge was lacking, awareness ratewas only62.61%, the vast majority of respondents wanted help abouttumor early detection, they think it was necessary to do regular physicalexamination and cancer census. Respondents’ tumor early detectionknowledge source way was main radio, television and Internet. Residents’requirements for knowledge acquisition convenience were higher.84.03%of people thought it is necessary for the public to carry out the cancer early detection knowledge training, knowledge training frequency was best oncea year. Residents of tumor early detection activities demand was bigger,more than half of the people wanted the government to carry out regularphysical examination. Residents of the current location of cancer earlydetection activities of satisfaction were not high, some people didn’t evenhear of it.Conclusion The knowledge of an early sign and early detection forcancer among community residents in Chongqing was weak point,awareness rate of feeling stressed and obesity increasing risk for cancerwas not high, Age and tumor related knowledge awareness rate wasnegatively correlated and cultural level and tumor related knowledgeawareness rate was positively related.The current early detection activitiesin Chongqing could not meet the needs of residents, suggest that cancerprevention and control work should establish tumor registration systemcovering the whole city in the future, it’s necessary to provide healtheducation based on the weak point in cancer prevention work, do a goodjob of tumor prevention and treatment of primary prevention.
