Background:Upper extremity Lymphedema is one of the common complications after breast cancer surgery, which destroys the quality of life in postoperative patients seriously. Because it is difficult to be cured, and has the recurrenced features, clinical treatment is formidable.Objective:1.Compare the incidence rates of upper limb Lymphedema between the two groups:the group of treated by Simiao Wan after the operation and the group of did not intervene in the treatment, in order to explore the therapeutic efficacy of the treatment to breast cancer related lymphedema by Simiao Wan;2. Overall analysis,and explore the correlation factor about effect on the occur of upper extremity lymphedema.Design:Prospective studyResearch departments:Breast Surgery of the Third People’s Hospital of NantongParticipants:134patients who have been treatted by breast-conserving surgery and modified radical mastectomy.Methods:There are76previous cases are set up for the control group,which only for follow-up and history taking without any intervention,as retrospective analysis and comparative; There are58patients are set up for the treatment group, treatted by Simiao Wan. Follow up for6months to2years, compared with the incidence of edema of two groups, and evaluated treatment efficacy of Simiao Wan. And then analyse the relationship between edema and related factors of two groups.Results:1. In the control group,there are totally17of76cases turn out lymphedema, the incidence of lymphedema is22.4%. And there are totally5of58cases turn out lymphedema in the treatment group, the incidence of lymphedema is8.6%.Compare with two groups,P<0.05, it demonstrates that the disparity have statistically significant;2. The differences of lymphedema between the patients Body Mass Index (BMI)<25and BMI≥25in the control group have statistically significant (P<0.05). The differences of lymphedema between the patients treatted by radiotherapy and without radiotherapy have statistically significant (P<0.05).Conclusion:1. The intervention treatment of Simiao Wan can prevent the occurrence of upper limb Lymphedema after breast cancer surgery effectively;2.Breast cancer related lymphedema have a certain relations with BMI and postoperative radiotherapy.
