Objective:To understand the gestational age couples’s knowledge about pre-pregnancy care and related requirement before and after education in seven towns of Jinirig City, Shandong Province, analyse the effect of education, explore the influence factors of awareness status and education effect, and to provide scientific basis for developing and popularizing pre-pregnancy care education, thus to take more targeted and efficient interventions.Methods:From February to March2014, gestational age couples of seven towns in Rencheng District, Jining City, Shandong Province were randomly selected, in which the couples at child bearing age who took part in the free pre-pregnant pre-pregnancy care check were investigated by questionnaire on the knowledge of pre-pregnant pre-pregnancy care and same questionnaires were given again after health educational intervention for comparisions.The data are then analyzed by SPSS17.0software.Results:1. Social demographic factors of the samplesSamples are503couples,71.0%samples aging from25to34years old, in which68.8%are female,73.3%are male. Educatiqn level from junior middle school or the following, senior middle school, to college or higher, the percentage are53.7%,29.6%and16.7%, respectively. About77.9%of pre-pregnant couples at child bearing age have psychological burden on fertility, and the most common reason is economic pressure, up to53.5%; Others include work schedules (20.9%), family attitude (11.5%), child sex (10.7%). Received pregnancy education accounted for57.1%.About47.0%of men are smoker or passive smoker, and the rate of women is14.8%.2. The awareness status of pre-pregnancy care knowledge and influence factors among pre-pregnant couples at childing bearing age.Knowledge of pre-pregnancy care consist of preparation of pre-pregnancy care, contraception, pregnancy, and sterility. In which preparation of pre-pregnancy care knowledge score before child birth is higher, which is71.59±11.39; Knowledge of contraception, pregnancy, and sterility score is49.14±14.48; Overall knowledge score is66.12±10.19.Specific knowledge awareness is from11.4%to99.0%, with a significant difference, and Men and women differ in some related knowledge(P<0.05). According to the results, Education level(P=0.001), intention of planning pregnancy(P=0.000), and taking pre-pregnancy education(P=0.000) have a significant impact on the results. Generally, high education level contributed to the pre-pregnancy knowledge. Couples with intention of planning pregnancy or receiving pre-pregnancy health education scored significantly higher than that of those with natural pregnant attidute (P=0.000or P=0.001).3. The educational effects of pre-pregnancy care health knowledge and influence factors among pre-pregnant couples at childing bearing age.After the education,29of42knowledge points were evidently higher than before, with an extremely significant difference (P<0.01),except that "whether or not necessary to have pregnancy examination" showed no signifant rise. The total score pregnancy eugenic knowledge score, contraception pregnancy and sterility knowledge score of the couples of child-bearing age after education are higher than before.(P<0.01).Multiple correlation analysis of educational results showed that educational level (P=0.011) and pregnancy intention (P=0.000) both have a significant impact on the scores before and after education.4. Pre-pregnancy care knowledge sources and desired ways of receiving among pre-pregnancy couples at child bearing ageIn pre-pregnancy care knowledge source, the top five are free publicity materials (61.4%), Internet (30.7%), books-newspapers-magazines (29.5%), doctors (29.1%), family planning lectures (26.1%). However, the top five desired way to get knowledge are free publicity materials (75.1%), family planning lectures (53.3%), Internet (47.1%), doctors (45.7%), and books-newspapers-magazines (38.6%).5. The rate of demands for various pre-pregnancy care knowledge among pre-pregnancy couples at child bearing age are all above90%.Conclusions:1. Education level, intention of planning a pregnancy are the main factors which affect pre-pregnancy care knowledge level and effect of health education;The higher level of education and health education knowledge,The higher the education level and the couples with intention of planning a pregnancy are higher than that of letting nature take its course couple. But the long-term effect remains to be seen.2.1t is better for the planning pregnancy couples to be directly affected by pre-pregnancy care knowledge, but some still need to be deepenly and refinedly educated, and indirect effects of contraception knowledge is in urgent need to improve.3. There is a gender difference in the awereness of certain knowledge among child-bearing age couples, which promotes partners to complement each other in the knowledge so as to develop better plans for pregnancy. Health education materials should also be targeted.4. Pre-pregnancy care education can significantly improve the couples of child-bearing age awareness on pre-pregnancy care, and increase their intention of planning a pregnancy, which make the couples of child-bearing age can take the initiative to learn and accept pre-pregnancy health knowledge before pregnancy. It is a kind of intervention method worthy of popularizing.5.Rural pre-pregnancy child-bearing age couples have higher demand of pre-pregnancy health knowledge before childbirth.6.The government and related departments should strengthen intervention and management of the rural pregnant couples at child-bearing age, strengthen pregnancy eugenics health knowledge propaganda, and improve the accessibility of authoritative education ways, makng it more convenient and efficient for rural child bearing aged couples to knowledge for pre-pregnancy care.
